Britain’s Got Talent may not be open to applications from gifted dogs up and down the country but, if it was, it looks like many of this nation's pooch owners would be lining up their mutt to show off their skills.
Indeed, Direct Line Pet Insurance revealed how an astonishing 86 per cent of dog owners believe their pet has got talent, with a fifth saying their mutt is a dancer.
The research, which was commissioned by the insurer and K9 Media, found that another 15 per cent think their dog can sing and 69 per cent even say their pet has more talent than your typical human.
To celebrate the skills of Britain’s dogs, Direct Line has launched a new website entitled Pet Step. It offers the opportunity for pet owners to upload videos of their mutts doing a jig, with the clip potentially making it onto the insurer’s adverts on the channel Animal Planet.
The firm is just asking for five to ten second clips of the dog cutting some shapes. This should then be shared across social media to friends and family who can then vote for it if they like it. The video with the highest number of votes will win its creator a family holiday for four to Hollywood, while £100 of high street vouchers will be given to the most popular video each week.
"We are looking for the nation's disco dogs and tap dancing tabby cats to feature in our TV adverts on the Animal Planet Channel. We have been helping people protect their pets by insuring dogs and cats for over 15 years, and now is the chance for the pets to take the spotlight - whatever their moggy or mutt moves are,” said Edd Barclay, Direct Line pet product manager.
