Virbac Indorex Household Flea Spray
500ml Spray

  • Special Offer 500ml Spray £7.84

Indorex is the number one selling veterinary household flea spray on the market, voted Best Product by readers of ‘Your Dog’ magazine 2 years running, and with so many benefits it is easy to see why!

Indorex has a higher Permethrin content than any other household flea spray which means it gives your home the longest protection against adult fleas and dust mites, killing them on contact in minutes for up to 2 months. Piperonyl Butoxide enhances the action of Permethrin, ensuring maximum speed of kill and ensuring the effects last. Permethrin has an excellent safety record and is used in many animal products.

Not only does Indorex control adult fleas and dust mites in the home, it also contains Piriproxyfen to prevent flea and dust mite eggs and larvae hatching for 12 months. Piriproxyfen has no known side effects in humans, dogs or cats. So you can rest assured that one treatment with Indorex provides a year’s worth of safe, effective protection for your home. Indorex is pleasant to use as it is completely odourless and provides excellent value for money, with one can covering 79m² (treatable surfaces in an average 3 bedroom semi-detached house).

Indorex should never be applied directly to the animal (especially cats). It is for use on surfaces in the home.

For best results:

  • Close windows and doors before spraying
  • Spray inside your vacuum cleaner as fleas survive in dust
  • Remove pets and seal fish tank lids before use

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Virbac Indorex Household Flea Spray, including answers from our team.

Is this spray safe to be used on a human mattress? As every other spray says it's not safe for human beds. I'm struggling to find one

  • Brand Manager

Yes you can use it on mattresses. Remove all bedding and put these on a hot wash, and then you can spray the mattress, floors and skirting boards (window sills too if you have cats that sit on them). Make sure pets/children are not in the room, and leave the spray to settle for about an hour before opening the windows to air the rooms treated. Ideally you need to treat all rooms the pets have access to.

Hope this helps!

Treated rooms & rooms with vinyl flooring

After a room has been treated, how long should I allow before letting my cat back in it?

Should I use this product on vinyl flooring too?

  • Website Content Developer

Thank you for your question.

You need to leave at least an hour before letting any pets back in the room.

You can use it on vinyl flooring as well.

Treating furnishings

I have a leather lounge suite which my cat frequents daily. Can I use the spray on it?

  • Non-Executive Director

You should be safe to do this, but first you should spray a small patch on the back of one of them and leave it for a few hours to test it out. If there is any colour change then it is best to avoid using it

Is it safe to use with 6 week old kittens?

  • Non-Executive Director

Ideally you should not spray this while the kittens are present. Once the spray has settled out of the air (one or two hours is plenty of time) then it is perfectly safe for your kittens.

Can you use the spray if pregnant?

  • Non-Executive Director

Yes you can, but personally I would suggest that you ask someone else to actually apply the spray. Once the spray has had an hour or two to settle out of the air, it leaves a minute film of insecticide on the floors and low surfaces but will not affect a person in the room. If you apply the spray yourself inevitably you will inhale a tiny amount. This should be safe in fact, but it is better to be over-cautious with this sort of thing, especially in early pregnancy (first 3 months). Ideally have someone else do the spraying for you.

I have a 1 year old in the house is it safe to use

Safe for use with babies

I have a 1 year old in the house is it safe to use

  • Non-Executive Director

I would recommend that you keep the child out of any treated room for the first couple of hours after you have used the spray. After that time, all of the product will have settled from the air onto the floor coverings and other surfaces. It is then fine for your child. (Even if he/her went around licking the floors, I would be more worried about other things than the Indorex!)

How long until I can see results

how long to see the fleas die

If I spray bedding and furniture how long until I can see & feel results

  • Non-Executive Director

This will start killing fleas immediately. The trouble with fleas is that they are very well adapted to surviving and breeding out of sight, so some fleas will continue to appear from places out of reach of any treatments for a while. Any fleas you see might already be "poorly" (ie affected by the Indorex or other treatments) by the time you see them, but each flea might take a few hours to die. "Sick" fleas are particularly easy to find, as they are not so good at hiding and escaping. Fleas will appear "from the woodwork" for a period of time. Ideally you should treat all dogs and cats in the household with a spot-on flea treatments like Advantage or Frontline as well as using Indorex around the house. Most people see results after a few days, but sometimes it can take up to 2 months if there is a heavy infestation and many flea eggs have been laid away from the areas where you can reach with the Indorex (this happens especially in houses with both dogs and cats). All you can do is treat the animals and the house and wait for the flea population to decline. It always does, but sometimes it takes time.

Kids and pets

How long will pets & kids need to be kept out of treated area? Can I use it on soft toys bedding etc?

  • Non-Executive Director

Pets and children need to be kept out of a treated area until the air has cleared and all the spray has settled down onto the floor or other surfaces. This will only take an hour or two if there is minimal air movent. After this period of time you can open windows and doors for a short while to clear the air and then it is very quickly perfectly acceptable for pets and children to be present. The only thing I would say is that if you have a fish tank, it is best to make sure this is covered and any air pumps are switched off while the air is clearing. As far as spraying soft toys and bedding, I personally advise not doing this, but putting those things through the washing machine instead. This will be effective, certainly if you can use a hot wash, and leaves no residues of course. Ideally you would wash these items periodically to keep them clear.
