Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Vetzyme Antibacterial Ear Drops & Cleanser, including answers from our team.

Daily use

Bella

Hi
Can I use daily when dog shaking his head, tried taking out inner dog air which can cause infection if left in. I use as drops and not cleanser.

  • VioVet Staff

The dosing guidelines as per the packaging advise putting 2 to 4 drops for a dog into each affected ear twice daily. These drops should not be used if the ear drum is damaged, if you are unsure of whether this is an issue or not then I recommend contacting your vet.

does it help candidal and bacterial infections?
Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

Yes these drops will help clean wax and debris out of the ear which the yeast/bacteria live and thrive on. However it will won't necessarily kill the yeast or bacteria, prescription drops via a written prescription from your vet are usually best for this. I recommend reading our blog 'Itchy ears' for more information.

My dog has tender ears

My dog has very tender ears and yelps sometimes if rubbed.would ear drops help or a visit to the vets.

  • VioVet Staff

It sounds as if the ears are painful, so a visit to the vets is definitely indicated here.

I can't see any evidence of ear mites but my cat scratches her ears a lot will these drops help

  • VioVet Staff

They might help, but they might make no difference at all. It depends why your cat is bothered by its ears in the first place. Sometimes this is an allergy or reaction to something (possibly dusts an pollens in the air, sometimes items in the food etc). The drops will make very little difference then, though keeping the ear clean can help a bit whatever the cause. It would be better to have your vet check your cat's ears and follow the vet's advice.
