Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Vetzyme Flexible Joint With Glucosamine for Dogs, including answers from our team.

Can I give to my cat

Rose

He is 18 and arthritic, he weighs just under 4kg now

  • VioVet Staff

This supplement is intended for use in dogs only, we therefore do not advise it's use in cats. I recommend checking out our own brand joint supplement for cats, Joint Force Soft Chews for Cats. This is safe for use in felines.

Dosage

Julie

Hi l have a 9 year old collie Labrador cross, she currently has 1 tablet a day, is it possible to up the dosage or not.. Julie

  • VioVet Staff

You should follow the doseage as per the package guidelines. Any amount given above this may or may not be safe and so is not advised. If you think your dog needs more nutritional supplementation then I suggest checking out our Joint Force Plus, this contains additional ingredients and is tailored for dogs needing extra support.

Using Vetzyme with thyforon

David Wright

Is it safe to use Vetzym Flexible Joint tablets with our dog's current Thyforon and Apoquel tablets?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, it is safe to use this supplement alongside Thyforon and Apoquel.

Pancreatitis

Jenny

Can I give my dog these tablets half a day with his weight, also has pancreatitis, are they safe with this

  • VioVet Staff

You should give this supplement according to your dog's weight using the following guide:

  • 5 - 21kg (11-46lbs) - 0.5 Bite

  • 22 - 33kg (48 - 72lbs) - 1 Bite

  • 34 - 46kg (73 - 101lbs) - 1.5 Bites

  • 46kg+ (101lbs) - 2 Bites

It is advised to contact your vet to determine if it is safe for use with pancreatitis. Some dogs severely affected by the condition can be set off by any dietary change, including the addition of a supplement, so it is worth running it's use past them first.

Catherine Goodwin

What strength should I give my 8 nearly 9 year old spaniel. Should I go straight to high strength

  • VioVet Staff

High Strength will provide better support, as your dog is a particularly active breed and are reaching a senior age then it is worth using the High Strength if you can.

18 April 2021 at 12:21pm

Cod liver oil

Debbie McGowan

Can you give these to your dog along with cod liver oil tablets

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this product is safe to use alongside Cod Liver Oil. If you are looking to support the joints then I recommend using a combination joint supplement that contains these ingredients and more. Our own brand Joint Force is a good example of this.

7 October 2015 at 10:53pm

Can I continue to give my dog his 16 Vetzyme per day.

Wendy

Can I continue to give my dog his 16 Vetzyme per day.

  • VioVet Staff

Yes you can, there is no concern about any sort of adverse interaction between these products.

Diabetic

Maxine

My dog is a diabetic , is this product save for him?

  • VioVet Staff

This product is essentially safe, but it is possible (though unlikely) that it would affect the dose of insulin given. You should introduce it carefully after speaking to your vet about it. A consistent daily routine is always good for diabetics, so always try to give the same amount and at the same time on each day.

Hi I've put my cavalier King Charles spaniel on these but she is is only 2 is it okay to give them to her? She has suspected hip dysplacia thanks ........

  • VioVet Staff

This is a very safe product and it can certainly be given to a 2 year old Cavalier. It is not certain how much this product can help dogs in the early stages of joint problems, but people often do this because it is so safe. Many people feel it helps although so far the scientific evidence is not complete.
