Description

Vetericyn VF Ophthalmic Wash cleans wounds, helps eliminate eye infections caused by viruses or fungi, and inhibits bacteria. Used during regular grooming, the one-step Wash cleans eyes and prevents infection. It also works as a no-rinse flush to relieve irritated eyes, or debride eye abrasions and wounds in the surrounding area of the eye. The bottle features a twist-top for ease of application, especially useful for spray-adverse animals such as cats. The Wash is 100 percent biocompatible and non-toxic, making it safe if licked or ingested.

Infection in my foals eye.

Nicky

Hi,
I have a 6 months old foal and she has very bad infection in her eyes. It collects in one corner and I need something to help. Is this appropriate for her please?
Thank you

Yes, these eye drops can be used in a foals eyes. It is important to seek a diagnosis from your vet if the condition is severe though as prescription eye drops may be required.

Can this be used on puppies

Johnson

I have 3 week old puppies 1 of them have some discharges around eyes can I use this to clear it up?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this can be used on your pup's eyes to help clean them. It may not help treat the underlying cause of the discharge so it is advised to consult your vet regarding this.

Will this help a dogs stye?

Michelle

Or do you have any products that are suitable for a dogs stye that don’t require a prescription?

  • VioVet Staff

This will help clean the stye which may help treat it, as often infections are the underlying cause to styes. However it is best to seek veterinary attention for treating the problem as occasionally prescription medications or surgical removal is required.

Can this be used on chickens

Vanessa

Hi, I’m a first time chicken keeper and have 3 pekin bantams chickens. Got our first egg yesterday but I also noticed one of the chickens was keeping one eye shut. They are around 26 weeks old. The eye is clear and bright, there is no discharge but the surrounding skin in swollen. I can’t see any sign of a wound. I use poultry specific dust free bedding and spot clean every day so quite disappointed. I would have said she was the pecky chicken. Would this be suitable to use to wash out her eye?

  • VioVet Staff

This product can be used in the eyes of all animals, including chickens. It can help clear mild conjunctival infections however it is best to get the eye problem diagnosed by your vet before assuming it is this. Some eye problems like ulcers can deteriorate if not treated properly, an early diagnosis is important in these cases.

Seasonal allergies

Could these eye products reduce the water, red irritated eyes caused by seasonal allergies

  • VioVet Staff

These drops might help to flush allergens from the eyes and so reduce the irritation that way, but they will not affect the underlying allergy. My feeling is that if this is a genuine allergic response you are seeing (and that is not uncommon and so could easily be) then they will only have a minimal effect. It would be safe to try them and see what response you get.

Eye care

Viktorija

Hi i have 4 weeks old puppy wich have some swollen eye,its seems ok just i was wondering if there is any medication to clear that away?
Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

If the eye is not too swollen or sore, then just keeping the surrounding skin clean will help and usually these problems do heal by themselves. Vetericyn Eye Care spray is a suitable product to use, though it is more often used on farm animals than puppies. The product CleanOcular is often used to clean around the eyes of dogs and puppies and is a very safe product to use. If the problem is severe or fails to improve, then you must see your vet.
