Synoquin, one of the leading joint care supplements aids stiff joints and supports mobility. Synoquin contains Dexahan, a unique source of Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs). Omega 3 EFAs are an excellent supplement to add to your pet’s diet as they have lots of health benefits and are often used to aid in the management of joints. Dexahan is a concentrated source of krill, a tiny crustacean with an especially big nutritional benefit! The EFAs in krill oil are more easily digested and utilised by the body than those from other sources. They come from an environmentally friendly source, are packed with antioxidants and don’t cause your pet to get fishy breath.
For horses there is the palatable powder Synequin Equine.

We THINK this product is making our cat's rear joints better, but are not completely sure yet. We've given the capsules entirely as specified, including the double-dosage for the first six weeks. If we find it's not working as expected, that's not to say it won't work for other cats.
The capsules are quite large, but are very smooth and rounded, so they go down the throat without problem. Best to do it that way, rather than sprinkle the contents onto food, in case the cat then won't eat all of the food and the product. Folks, do learn how to give your cat tablets or capsules - it's easy if you're firm with them, but don't frighten them if at first they spit out a tablet or capsule. Work in harmony with your cat and learn how they may feel - it's easy for them to be frightened if you're too rough and shout at them. Be kind and understanding, and as gentle as you can - giving a cat a tablet or capsule is a learned technique. They will often resist, understandably. Thanks.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Synoquin Joint Supplement, including answers from our team.

Do you need a prescription for this?
This is an over the counter supplement, a prescription is not required to purchase it.

I'm on the 3 daily, 2 morning and 1 evening. I missed a day, during the loading rate, will this be a problem?
This is unlikely to significantly impact the loading period. It is advised to add this missed day onto the end of the normal loading period, to ensure it is still covered.
Meloxidyl
My 9 year old Airedale 34kg has been taking Meloxidyl to help with stiff joints for 6 months and it certainly helps. Would Synoquin be a suitable replacement and does it have an immediate reaction . Also which of these supplements do you recommend
Thank you
Synoquin is a joint supplement, it contains multiple ingredients to help nutritionally support the joint. Meloxidyl is a NSAID medication which has anti-infammatory properties to help reduce pain from the joint disease. They both work differently and so are not alternatives for each other. They do however work well together and it is advised to use a joint supplement like Synoquin or our own brand Joint Force as part of managing oesteoarthritis in animals.

Can I give my dog a whole capsule or do I have to open it and sprinkle it on their food?
The capsules can be given whole if your dog is large enough to take them safely in this way.

We'd like to change from Seraquin 2g to Synoquin for added benefits. My 10 year old husky is also getting Loxicom anti-inflammatory and with this combination he seems to be just fine. Do you think it may worth to upgrade to Synoquin and in case yes, shall we start with the increased dose in the beginning or the maintenance level?
Many thanks
The two products you describe are very similar, both are joint supplements containing Glucosamine and Chondroitin. If you are wishing to switch to a different joint supplement to increase the number of ingredients and benefits then I advise choosing Joint Force Plus. This contains all that Seraquin contains as well as beneficial Omega 3s, Boswellia, Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid amongst others.

Can you give me details about what is in this product. I was advise by vet to order it but violet have suggested a swap to joint force, are they identical?
The ingredients for both products are as follows:
Synoquin EFA:
Glucosamine hydrochloride, N-acetyl D glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate, Dexahan, Ascorbic Acid, Zinc.
Joint Force:
Glucosamine HCL 250mg, Green Lipped Mussel 150mg, MSM 100mg, Boswellia Serrata 40mg, Turmeric 25mg, Ascorbic acid 12.5mg (Vitamin C), Manganese 2mg, Hyaluronic acid 2mg, Vitamin E 0.5mg
As you can see the ingredients are very similar. Our own brand contains a few additional beneficial products but the core ones are the same. You should run any changes past your vet just in case, but essentially Joint Force is a more affordable but still just as high quality joint supplement compared to Synoquin EFA.

can you use this along side previcox and can you also add extra krill oil or fish oil
thk you
Yes this joint supplement can be used alongisde Previcox. It contains ingredients sourced from shellfish so you should not need to supplement additionally in this area. You can use omega oils alongside this though as these are not included, EpiGlow would be a good choice for this. These help support the skijn but also the joints.

HI, my dog is a 11 year old large dog. We do SDMA test for kidney is 14. I am wondering if she can take this supplement.
If you use the capsuled version then this is unflavoured (can be opened and sprinkled onto the food) which should be safe for a patient with kidney disease. It does depend on the severity of the kidney issue though so I advise running this past your vet, any additions to the diet with pets who have severe kidney problems can be an issue.
Susanne Burley
Can this supplement be taken alongside a dog with pancreatitis?
The Synoquin EFA capsules are unflavoured joint supplements and si the safest joint supplements to try in a dog with pancreatitis. However all joint supplements are shellfish based and severe cases of pancreatitis can react to this. It is worth discussing their use with your vet first.
