The cat flap was easy to fit, it replaced a 25 year old one which had been torn to pieces by an unwanted cat visitor terrorising our cat. It works really well only letting our cat in,much to the disgust of the visiting bully. Our cat is quite timid and was slightly put off by the clunking noise when flap unlocks but after a day or so he was fine with it.

Overall, very happy with this door, saves a LOT of effort having to get up and open the door to let our cats in or out! It also keeps curious and pesky cats out, which is a huge bonus.
Purchased this for our indoor/outdoor cat and installed it myself on a UPVC door. Not terribly difficult to install (used a drill and hacksaw handle), although it will need to be replaced with a standard cat flap when I move.
Setting it up for the microchip reader is easy enough, however use quality batteries because the chip reader is constantly 'on' so it can unlock to let your cat in. Haven't had a problem like some have seen with industrious cats able to get out even with the lock in place, but it depends on the cat really.
Our cats sometimes like to sit and look out the clear door flap so it needs to be cleaned periodically.
We now have 2 cats using the flap and our more shy/scaredy cat has sometimes raced inside with another cat chasing her - setting the door to let any animal out has helped when we've had to chase the neighbor cats out (because the lock doesn't activate for a couple of seconds after it unlocks).

I purchased this cat flap at a competitive price. It was delivered promptly and was well packaged. I engaged a fitter from the people who supplied the door and this has now been completed. Our door was a UPVC door with aluminium insert. Fitting took this skilled person just about two hours. He had to make adjustments to make it fit for purpose. I am pleased with the overall result.

This cat flap is easy to set up and to use. I got a carpenter to cut a hole in my uPVC back door and the cat flap was easily fitted. The Sureflap successfully registered my cat's microchip and it works well.
My cat has a different view of the product! She is 15 years old and has never used a cat flap. I bought it in the hope that she would stop crying at me at 5.00am to be let out! I am still working on getting her to use it but this is not the product's fault and with more tuna bribes we may be successful.

We had a problem where a stray cat was using our ordinary cat flap to access our cats' food, and wolfing it down almost before they had started. So we bought and fitted a chip-controlled cat flap, and had our two fellows chipped. We were concerned that maybe the unwelcome visitor might push hard enough on the new "door" to break the locking mechanism, but this has not been the case. VioVet was very helpful in ensuring the necessary prompt delivery of the unit, allowing it to be fitted before we went on holiday, during which time a friend was calling daily to feed our felines.

Hello,
This particular cat flap requires a circular hole with a diameter of 212mm (8 3/8'') to be mounted onto glass, and a 170mm x 170mm (6 11/16'' x 6 11/16'') square to be mounted onto a wall.

It depends on the type of chip used, but virtually all microchips used worldwide these days are compatible. On the Sureflap website there is a compatability checker where you type in your microchip and the website can work out from that if it is going to work. Do the cats have to use a collar in order to use this?
No they do not need to have a collar. They must be microchipped and then you can easily program the cat flap to recognise the cat with that microchip. Microchips are tiny and are injected under the skin in the scruff of the neck - usually by a vet.

My Yorkshire terrier puppy managed to get through my existing normal cat flap last night (I was outside thankfully and managed to intercept him ) so it's important only my 2 cats can use the catflap
You can teach your flap to work with up to 32 different pets, so your two cats will be fine.

We have a neighbours cat who enters our catflap, is the microchip number manually entered? Is there the possibility of him being able to access ours if he is microchipped?
You can set the flap to learn your own cat's microchip. Any cats with different chips will not be allowed through the flap. The instructions provided will explain how to do this and indeed your situation is exactly the sort of circumstance the Sureflap is intended to help with.
