Description

If you’re serious about horses, what matters is doing things the right way, and doing right by the horse. You want your horse to be at 100%, so you give 100%.

That’s why you ensure your horses get the right care, the right feed … and SUCCEED.

Serious horse people the world over use SUCCEED, a nutritional approach to managing the horse’s digestive health, including the stomach and the hindgut. They know that a healthy digestive system supports every aspect of a horse’s health. And that means better performance, better attitude, better everything.

Uses for SUCCEED include:

  • Compensation for chronic insufficiency of small intestine function.
  • Compensation for chronic digestive disorders of the large intestine.
  • Nutritional restoration, convalescence.

Serious horse people also know that SUCCEED is backed by rigorous scientific studies. And most important of all – they know it really works.

Instructions for Use

Feed SUCCEED twice each day for the first week to 10 days of use, to condition the system. Always feed SUCCEED with the same feeding each day (e.g., with morning or evening feeding). If you top dress with SUCCEED, do not leave SUCCEED exposed to air for more than 30 minutes, as this may reduce its appeal to the horse.

Oral Paste: Simply empty the contents of one oral syringe directly into the horse’s mouth, once each day immediately before feeding. As an alternative, you may squeeze the contents of the tube directly on to the horse’s feed as a top dressing.

Granules: Just one scoop of SUCCEED granules (27 grams), applied directly on top of feed once each day, and you’re done. No mixing. No adding other ingredients.

Ingredients in SUCCEED®

Oat Oil: Oat oil in SUCCEED® contains a high concentration of polar lipids, which strengthen the tight junctions between enterocytes, the intestinal cells responsible for nutrient absorption. This has been shown to improve nutrient absorption.

Oat Flour: Oat flour in SUCCEED® is rich in Beta glucan, a soluble fibre. Beta glucan is a powerful stimulant to the immune system. It also helps normalise the rate at which food passes through the digestive tract, which is necessary for optimal nutrient absorption and to help prevent undigested starch from reaching the hindgut. Also, the moderated release of sugars into the bloodstream helps prevent sugar highs and lows that can affect your horse’s temperament.

Irradiated Dried Yeast: The irradiated dried yeast products in SUCCEED® include two forms of Mannan oligosaccharide (MOS), a complex yeast sugar. One form of MOS acts as a sponge that traps harmful pathogens in the gut so that they can be excreted safely. The other binds to fungal-based pathogens, called mycotoxins, so they are safely eliminated from the body. Nucleotides in yeast support cell reproduction and enhance the growth of intestinal cells.

L-Arginine: is and amino acid that supports immune function, tissue repair and healthy circulation.

Threonine: Threonine is another essential amino acid that supports the production of mucin, a necessary component of mucus that lubricates and protects the GI tract lining.

Recommended Servings for Horse Sizes

SUCCEED has been formulated for the typical 1,200 lb. adult horse. Because it is a nutrition programme and not a pharmaceutical, the standard serving is also safe for smaller horses and ponies.

45 Succeed - 30 day pot
Verified Purchase

Product itself was fine, however, wanted 60 day pot which was not available so purchased 30 day pot - works out significantly more expensive. I would have purchased elsewhere if 60 day pot was available.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Succeed Digestive Conditioning Program for Horses, including answers from our team.

Ulcers

Jaime Hill

Can I feed succeed with Gastroguard paste?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, the SUCCEED programme can be used safely alongside medications like Gastrogard. If your horse is being treated with prescription medication for ulcers then it is worth running the use of SUCCEED past your vet first though to make sure it does not interfere with their treatment plan.

Succeed and Bute

P Macdonald

Will succeed help stop ulcers reoccurring when on bute?
The horse has had ulcers in the past but has been treated for them with prescription medication and is now on succeed permanently?

  • VioVet Staff

Succeed does aim to prevent ulceration and treat any current ulcers. There is no 100% guarantee it will definitely prevent future ulceration but yes it will work at doing this.

Permanent Product

Kerri Thompson

  • VioVet customer since 2017
  • From: Hampshire, United Kingdom

Can my horse stay on this supplement permanently? Or is it to be used as a course?

  • VioVet Staff

SUCCEED is a functional feed
supplement designed to support digestive tract health and well-being.
Continue to feed SUCCEED once a day, every day for ongoing digestive
health. A response to good nutrition may be visible within 30 days, but
please allow at least 90 days. Continue to use SUCCEED daily thereafter.
Note that many performance horses enjoy an off-season rest, when
they’re allowed to graze freely for a few months. During this period,
you may find that your horses do not need SUCCEED or other supplements.

Ulcers

Amber Dunne

Does Succeed help prevent or help horses who are prone to ulcers! Thank you,
Amber

  • VioVet Staff

Yes SUCCEED helps normalise the gut system and promoted normal function of the intestinal system. This in turn can help prevent ulceration. SUCCEED have performed a useful study showing that their conditioning program reduces the size of ulcers when present, a link to this can be found here.

Do you need a prescription to buy Succeed Digestive Conditioning

Laura Taylor

Is the above Succeed supplement as efficient as Gastrogard or is it more of a maintenance programme after you use Gastrogard?

  • VioVet Staff

This product does not contain omeprazole like GastroGard does. It is more of a maintenance balancer programme that helps minimise any dietary causes to the ulcers. You can reduce the chance of ulceration occuring and reduce the severity of ulcers on SUCCEED but it is not a replacement for an omperazole containing medication like GastroGard.
It can be used safely alongside Gastrogard and other medications.

Kr
Rudolf Pichler

  • VioVet Staff

No, this is not a problem. GastGard and Succeed are both competition legal.

Quantity for ponies

Claire

Do you feed the same amount to a pony as a horse ?

  • VioVet Staff

If your pony is 250kg or less you can feed half the suggested serving. If your pony is over 250kg I would feed the same amount as is suggested for a horse.

Rachel Cox

Would this help my filly who has ulcers

  • VioVet Staff

Gastric ulcers are normally best treated with a prescription product your vet can advise you on. The manufacturer of Succeed claim that it will help and that might well be true, but there is not much scientific support for this view that I am aware of. This product might well help to some extent, but it is difficult to be sure.
