Description

Each SettleMe™ chew contains a blend of ingredients believed to be helpful in supporting calm behaviour and in reducing anxiety, stress-related behaviours and over-activity.

SettleMe™ chews are intended to provide support and help your pet cope better during stressful events such as:

  • Vet, cattery/kennel or groomer visits

  • Fireworks, thunderstorms and noise phobias

  • Parties and visitors

  • Travelling

  • Introducing a new pet or family member

  • Separation anxiety

The chews are seen as a treat and are easy to give, with or without food.

How do I choose a pack size?

The packs of 30 are ideal for cats and small dogs (both for short and long-term use) and can also be used for larger dogs if you want to try the product for a week or two before buying the 60 pack.

The pack of 60 are larger and have 4 times the amount of each ingredient. They are ideal for all sizes of dogs and are perfect for long-term use (a pack of 60 will last a 25kg dog 60 days, and dogs over 50kg 30 days).

See below for directions for use for both packs.

Delivery Information

How quickly do you deliver?

Under almost all products on our website is an Estimated dispatch time, check this for a delivery prediction specific to the item you are looking to purchase. These badges are updated live based on the stock levels we have and also those of our suppliers - so are usually very accurate, but cannot be guaranteed. In more general terms, we aim to dispatch all orders within 1 working day of receiving payment (and a prescription if required). If we cannot do so within 3 working days we will contact you by email.

What do you charge for delivery?

For UK delivery, we charge the following:

Order Total Weight Delivery
£0-Ā£28.99 Under 2kg Ā£2.99
2kg+ Ā£4.99
£29-Ā£38.99 Under 2kg Free
2kg+ Ā£4.99
£39+ Under 2kg Free
2kg+ Free

Prices quoted are for delivery to all parts of mainland UK except certain Scottish postcodes (where the price is higher for items sent by courier. Delivery of food abroad (including Channel Islands, N. Ireland and other islands around the UK) is charged at a higher price and free delivery is not available. Temperature controlled products, such as Insulin, are also not always subject to the standard and/or free delivery options.

For full information on our delivery charges, including prices on heavy deliveries to Scotland and abroad, see our delivery information page.

We can deliver most items to all around the world, but prices do vary. The majority of light weight orders (less than 1.5kg) can be delivered for a flat rate of Ā£10. For an accurate estimate of the delivery charge, please put the items you require in your basket and use the "Estimate Delivery" system on the shopping basket page (you only need to enter your country and postal/zip code) for a quick quote. For deliveries to the USA you may need to go to the checkout page and enter your full address to get a quote (as some services need your state in order to quote too). For more information on international deliveries, please see our delivery information page.

Delivery of aerosols

Due to restrictions aerosols can't be sent by Royal Mail. We appreciate your understanding.

Delivery of temperature controlled items

Some products, such as insulin and frozen food, need to be delivered in insulated packaging to prevent them from getting too warm (or too cold) during transit from us to you. Purchasing any of these items in your order will result in a Ā£1.99 charge being added to the total to cover the high cost of the insulated packaging materials. You only pay the Ā£1.99 once per order, regardless of how many temperature controlled items you purchase in that order.

How do I cancel or return an order?

Please call us as soon as possible if you need to amend or cancel an order on 01582 842096. If your order has been processed for dispatch we will be unable to cancel or amend the order. You will however be able to return your product for a full refund*.

To return an item, you must contact us by phone or email to arrange this BEFORE posting any product back to us. We will explain the process at this stage for you.

Other medication

Penny

Hi, my cat is a very anxious cat and I've been giving her Cystease for about a month and have seen signs of improvement. Can I give these chews in conjunction with Cystease during a stay at a cattery.
Thank you

  • Product Developer

Hi Penny,

Thank you for your question,

There is only one overlapping ingredient between the SettleMe™ Chews and Cystease, so they should benefit from the extra ingredients found in SettleMe™ chews. As both contain natural ingredients, they are also safe to give in conjunction with each other according to the feeding guidelines. We also sell SettleMe™ in a liquid formulation which is extra palatable, especially to cats, which can be found here.

I hope this helps!

Travelling

Susan Andrews

My rescue Lurcher doesn't like travelling in the car. She drools excessively (we have to line the car boot with several newspapers) and is sick as well, even if she hasn't had a meal. She also shows fear aggression at the vets. Will Settle-Me help?

  • Brand Manager

Hi Susan,

SettleMe should be able to help your lurcher feel calmer and receive desensitisation training more easily, however it does sound like her fears are quite severe, so no supplement will be able to resolve it alone. They're perfect for helping her to achieve a more positive mindset and feel calmer, but it would be most beneficial to do some training with her over a long period of time, using a calming supplement like SettleMe to improve her receptiveness.

It sounds like she has a rough time, and if motion sickness is the reason for her vomiting, rather than fear, then your vet would be best placed to prescribe medication to help with this. However, drooling and vomiting can be through fear, and you will be able to help your dog through this.

For the fear of travel, you can give her SettleMe daily, around 1-2 hours before a little training session. Start with getting her into the car regularly, and sit with her until she is calm. You can give her gentle reassurance to help her calm down, and her favourite treat when she's settled. Do this daily/every other day until she can enter the car calmly. Then move on to starting the engine and very short trips of a couple of minutes, then progress perhaps to a nearby park or somewhere she enjoys, so she learns that not all journeys are bad. Over time, you should be able to increase the length of journey but I'm afraid it won't be a quick fix (although I'm now not 'scared' of them, and I make myself take a close look, I'm still not ready to pick up a big house spider!).

If she isn't sick on shorter journeys, hopefully you can start taking a toy and comfy bedding to help her enjoy the ride more too :-). I hope this helps - please get in touch.

Kind regards,

Danielle

Settle me - car travel

marg dillon

How effective is this for car travel? My border terrier absolutely hates the car she looking for something to keep him calm on long journey.

  • Veterinary Advisor

It is very hard to say how effective this supplement will be for your dog. Some calmers seem to work better for some dogs than others so it can be a little trial and error. However SettleMe would be as good as any to try first. If you do not have much success with this one then you could have a look at others such as Zylkene, Adaptil Express or Calmex. It would also be worth getting some tips from a dog behaviourist to use alongside the calmer- www.apbc.org.uk is a good place to look.

Hi. My 11 month old puppy suffers from separation anxiety when I leave her in the day. Is it safe to use this long term until she calms down? Thanks.

  • Veterinary Advisor

Yes SettleMe chews are safe to use at the maintenance dose long term. You could also try an Adaptil diffuser to help her settle. Leaving the television or radio on can sometimes help as well. You may find some other useful tips on www.apbc.org.uk.

Dosage

Did I miss something on the advert - what is the dosage for Settle Me?

  • Veterinary Advisor

There is a tab on the product page listed "Directions for use". If you click on there it will show the dosing guidelines. For the first 4-5 days it is recommended to double dose and then go down to a maintenance dose after that. So for a dog under 10kg it is 2 chews initially then 1 chew daily, 10-20kg dog is 4 chews then 2 chews, 20-30kg dog is 6 chews then 3 chews and over 30kgs is 8 chews then 4 chews daily.

What Dose for 22 kg Collie

Rosemary Munro

  • VioVet customer since 2016
  • From: Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom

Can you please how many of these little treats I should give to my border collie per day. she weighs about 22 kgs.

  • Veterinary Advisor

A loading dose is recommended for the first 4-5 days so your dog would intially need 6 chews a day reducing to 3 chews a day at the maintenance dose.
