Description

Science Supplements Complete Electrolytes is a highly palatable, fully balanced electrolyte which replaces those lost during exercise while being gentle on digestion too. Lack of electrolyte intake can cause poor performance and can be affected by trying to feed an unpalatable product.

It is common to only feed horses electrolytes immediately before or during competition. If you feed enough electrolytes during training you will not need to increase the amount in the feed when it comes to a competition. If you don’t feed in training and feed only in competition you are asking for trouble. It can take weeks or months, not days, to fully restore the body’s normal electrolyte levels following a month or so of training.

Introduced to these last year and they are the only ones my mare will eat! We can now feed them regularly through the competition season which is great, especially as she has PSSM.

I can’t see any mention of glucose In the ingredient list, would I be correct in assuming this is a glucose free product?

  • VioVet Staff

The powder contains the following:
Composition: Sodium chloride, potassium chloride, vegetable oil, calcium gluconate, dextrose 5%, magnesium phosphate, flavour.

Dextrose is similar to glucose, both are sugars. This is a glucose free product but the dextrose can act in a similar way, for example it can stil be an issue for laminitics/cushingoid horses.

The syringe contains the following:
Composition: Sodium Chloride, Glycerine, Sorbitol, Potassium Chloride, Glucose
syrup, Tri-Sodium Citrate, purified water, Calcium Chloride, Magnesium
Chloride.
