45 Fussy Eater but No Need to Worry

Our cat seemed to love this food - I was worried he wouldn't like it as he can be very fussy with food. He unfortunately has developed cystitis so was recommended by the vet to go on this food for 6 weeks then change to another. We have just finished our 6 week course and our cat seems to be a lot better and food habits/Routine have immensely improved - Great product. I do have to state I found the price increase from standard foods abit steep but this is a specialist food and has worked!

Urinary crystals

Michael

I have a 13yr old slightly obese male cat that was treated for urinary crystals via an catheter.
Is this food OK for this ongoing diet?

  • VioVet Staff

This depends on the specific types of urinary crystals your cat is prone to forming. There are multiple urinary diets and picking the wrong one can worsen the problem so it is advised to contact your vet for diet recommendations.
The Urinary S/O diet will help reduce certain types of crystals so it is possible it is the right diet for your pet, but you should check with your vet to be certain.

I have a 16 year female cat.

Moira Griffiths

My cat has had two episodes of urinary incontinence accompanied with a high temperature in the last 12 months. The latest, two weeks ago. Antibiotics have resolved this. Would your urinary s/o wet pouches be safe for her to try? She is also on Metacam and Amodip. Blood test for kidney function are ok.

  • VioVet Staff

This depends on the cause of the urinary issues. There are at least 2 types of urinary diet and they will treat different types of urinary issues. I recommend discussing which of the urinary veterinary diets are most appropriate with your vet before starting one.
If the incontinence is related to infections then a urinary diet definitely could help prevent the issue recurring. It is important you choose the right diet though.
