Description

Royal Canin Sensitivity Control SC 27 is a complete food for cats. It can be fed to cats with food allergies or intolerances, IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease), Diarrhoea or cats undergoing a food elimination trial. It has been specifically formulated for sensitive cats and will help to reduce ingredient and nutrient intolerances. The food contains carefully selected ingredients which are very rarely known to be allergens in cats. Protein is naturally sourced in duck and chicken meat, and rice is the selected carbohydrate source. It contains specific nutrients to help to balance your cat's digestive system and give her optimum digestive security.

Please note: Recently the wet diet has been altered by increasing the chicken and decreasing the rice. This helps improve the texture of the chunks. There is added sunflower oil and a reduction of fish oil to improve the stability of the product. The overall moisture content has increased from 78% to 80% which helps to give better coverage of the chunks within the gravy. This does mean that the gravy will have a slightly more runny appearance. Royal Canin would like to reassure you that all these changes have been done to further improve the product, including the removal of cassia gum which has previously helped to give a thicker consistency; by removing this they are increasing the digestibility of the diet.

Royal Canin veterinary dients should only be given in conjunction with your vets recommendation!

Delivery Information

How quickly do you deliver?

Under almost all products on our website is an Estimated dispatch time, check this for a delivery prediction specific to the item you are looking to purchase. These badges are updated live based on the stock levels we have and also those of our suppliers - so are usually very accurate, but cannot be guaranteed. In more general terms, we aim to dispatch all orders within 1 working day of receiving payment (and a prescription if required). If we cannot do so within 3 working days we will contact you by email.

What do you charge for delivery?

For UK delivery, we charge the following:

Order Total Weight Delivery
£0-£28.99 Under 2kg £2.99
2kg+ £4.99
£29-£38.99 Under 2kg Free
2kg+ £4.99
£39+ Under 2kg Free
2kg+ Free

Prices quoted are for delivery to all parts of mainland UK except certain Scottish postcodes (where the price is higher for items sent by courier. Delivery of food abroad (including Channel Islands, N. Ireland and other islands around the UK) is charged at a higher price and free delivery is not available. Temperature controlled products, such as Insulin, are also not always subject to the standard and/or free delivery options.

For full information on our delivery charges, including prices on heavy deliveries to Scotland and abroad, see our delivery information page.

We can deliver most items to all around the world, but prices do vary. The majority of light weight orders (less than 1.5kg) can be delivered for a flat rate of £10. For an accurate estimate of the delivery charge, please put the items you require in your basket and use the "Estimate Delivery" system on the shopping basket page (you only need to enter your country and postal/zip code) for a quick quote. For deliveries to the USA you may need to go to the checkout page and enter your full address to get a quote (as some services need your state in order to quote too). For more information on international deliveries, please see our delivery information page.

Delivery of aerosols

Due to air freight restrictions aerosols cannot ever be sent abroad by Royal Mail. We appreciate your understanding.

Delivery of temperature controlled items

Some products, such as insulin and frozen food, need to be delivered in insulated packaging to prevent them from getting too warm (or too cold) during transit from us to you. Purchasing any of these items in your order will result in a £1.99 charge being added to the total to cover the high cost of the insulated packaging materials. You only pay the £1.99 once per order, regardless of how many temperature controlled items you purchase in that order.

How do I cancel or return an order?

Please call us as soon as possible if you need to amend or cancel an order on 01582 842096. If your order has been processed for dispatch we will be unable to cancel or amend the order. You will however be able to return your product for a full refund*.

To return an item, you must contact us by phone or email to arrange this BEFORE posting any product back to us. We will explain the process at this stage for you.

Kitten with a sensitive tummy

Talia Foa

Is this suitable for a kitten (Birman) now 16 weeks old or is there a kitten specific product.

  • Customer Service Advisor

Hi Talia,

Thank you for your question.

We would not recommend this until your cat is over 12 months old.

The Royal Canin Nutrition Second Age Kitten Food would be more ideal. You can find it here: https://www.viovet.co.uk/Royal-Canin-Feline-Health-Nutrition-Second-Age-Kitten-Food/c279/

Hope that helps,

VioVet.

Comparing this and another Royal Canin product

Sue Walsh

  • VioVet customer since 2014
  • From: Greater Manchester, United Kingdom

My vet has given me Royal Canin Sensitivity Control Chicken and Rice pouches for my cat which suffers from diarrhoea. What is the difference between this and the Royal Canin Feline Veterinary Diets Sensitivity Control SC 27 Cat Food that you sell as it is cheaper than buying from the vets. Would it still be suitable?

  • Non-Executive Director

Royal Canin seem not to be very revealing on the ingredients of some of their diets. However the veterinary sensitivity diet seems to be based on chicken, with other "meats" included. The Sensitivity Control SC 27 is based on duck and "hydrolysed" chicken, (hydrolysed means in effect partly digested already to make it hypoallergenic). Otherwise the ingredients are virtually identical. As far as your cat is concerned, there is unlikely to be any difference in the two diets. Often different diets are made for veterinary surgeons to sell as a marketing technique and they are not significantly different from alternative diets supplied to other retailers, they just have a slightly different name. I suspect this is the case here.

Alternative to dry

Ash

My 16 year old cat is in good health other than very soft stool. I changed her to Royal Canin Sensitivity Control SC 2 months ago (on recommendation from our vet). The effect has been great and her stool is back to normal (as long as she doesn't sneak any milk from the kids finished cereal bowls). She loves the wet food but isn't keen on the dry. I wanted to keep a mix to help keep her teeth clean. I wondered if the kibble is a bit big for an older cat. Do you have any recommendations for an alternative?

  • Non-Executive Director

It does sometimes gradually get more difficult for older cats to manage kibble at all. Other cats seem fine. (Some in fact learn to swallow them whole, especially if they have lost a lot of teeth!) If this food has helped with the stools I would be tempted to stay with it and keep offering some of the dry form. You could always mix it with the wet food, which will soften it slightly but still require a bit of work from the teeth.
