My puppy has loose stool for 5 weeks, we tried three different foods but still the same problem. test were carried out on her faecal samples over three days but all clear. We were recommended this product by the vet and as quickly as the next day she was happier and her stools were perfect, what a difference. I would recommend this as a first port of call as it really does work. Another good product is Pro-kolin that help the stomach lining to heal so that is worth a go also. At puppy class the trainers said that if one of their dogs has an upset tummy it's the first thing they do, just for 3days. It's also cheaper to get from viovet than at your vets.

55 Royal canin gastro intestinal junior dog food
Verified Purchase

Recommended by my vet as my cocker spaniel puppy seemed to have intolerances to ordinary commercially available puppy food. She had constant diarrheoa, was on antibiotics all the time and was not gaining weight very well. Changed to gastro junior and it sorted the problem almost immediately..she has gained weight and her stools are normal..has worked really well for us. Tests did not show up anything so we dont know what she is allergic to or intolerant of so we will stay on this food and change to the adult version in a couple of months to avoid any upset by putting her on a food that doesnt agree with her. It is slightly more expensive than other brands but for me its worth it.

Junior Dog Food

I am using Royal Canin Veterinary Diets Gastro-Intestinal Junior Dog Food, my dogs are coming upto 1 year old in January and both still have delicate guts, - I have used this food since September as recommended by the vet. Should I change once they are a year old or stick to the junior version? If I change what is the best food.

  • VioVet Staff

The standard Royal Canin Gastro-Intestinal food should be ideal, so I would suggest that but you should check with your vet if you are at all unsure.
