Delivery of temperature controlled items

Some products, such as non-ambient items and frozen food, need to be delivered in insulated packaging to prevent them from getting too warm (or too cold) during transit from us to you. Purchasing any of these items in your order will result in a £1.99 charge being added to the total to cover the high cost of the insulated packaging materials. You only pay the £1.99 once per order, regardless of how many temperature controlled items you purchase in that order.

Difference between RF23 & RSF 26?

Susie Poulton

  • VioVet customer since 2009
  • From: Oxfordshire, United Kingdom

What is the difference between the 2 Renal Dry foods from Royal Canin (RF23 and RSF 26)? The RSF 26 says it is more palatable so is it just for fussier cats, or is it slightly better quality? Or are they for different types of kidney disease? Would there be a medical reason as to why you should feed one and not the other in particular circumstances?
Thanks for your help.

The RF 23 is more severely restricted in phosphorus and protein and is more useful for more advanced cases of chronic renal insufficiency. As such it is also less palatable, so the RF 26 is more likely to be accepted by the average cat. They are both used for the same types of problem. If reduced renal function has clearly been demonstrated on blood and urine tests, then the best diet is probably the RF 23. However a lot of these cats are not keen to eat anyway, so giving them a diet which is not particularly palatable is counter productive. It is more important that they eat enough of something rather than not enough of a slightly better food. Having some of both to hand might be best, but aiming to use the RF 23 for preference.
