Description

Some cats’ digestive systems can be sensitive to certain types of food, if this is the case for your cat then a change in its diet may be required in order to settle its stomach. There are many nutrients that are likely to have a soothing effect on your cat’s digestive system. Suitable for adult cats aged 1-7 years, ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33 is specially formulated to support adult cats showing signs of sensitivity to certain food.

ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33 contains an exclusive combination of nutrients to strengthen and support optimal digestive security as well as healthy intestinal flora. The composition of high quality nutrients like proteins such as L.I.P. – known for its high digestibility – are included to help to reduce any undigested substances in your cat’s colon. Once your cat’s digestive system begins to improve, you can continue to feed it ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33, as it’s been specifically designed to not only support your cat’s digestion, but to also maintain it thereafter.

ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33 is highly palatable and contains three different kibble shapes and carefully selected flavourings to stimulate food intake and allow for easier digestion. Smaller portion sizes will mean that your cat’s digestive system doesn’t have to work quite as hard, this can soothe the discomfort caused by an unsettled stomach. The concentrated energy content in ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33 is beneficial to cats that require a higher energy density.

What’s more, ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33 has also been formulated to help maintain a healthy urinary system in adult cats like yours. At ROYAL CANIN® we’re committed to providing nutritional solutions to your pet’s needs. All of our products undergo an extensive quality control process in order to guarantee the optimum quality of food as well as catering to your cat’s specific dietary requirements and lifestyle. This means that when your cat eats ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33, its getting a complete and balanced diet.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding ROYAL CANIN® Sensible 33 Adult Cat Food, including answers from our team.

High fibre/allergery

Isla

My cat is 3 year old and has been advise by my vet to use dry car food that is high in fibre and allergy due to the problem of her scooting. What can you recommend please.

  • VioVet Staff

Royal Canin Sensible 33 is intended for use in cats with food sensitivies or digestive upsets. It contains poultry and pork as the main protein sources so I would avoid this though if you think your cat is allergic to this.
If the scooting is related to anal gland problems or your vet has recommended increasing fibre content then I advise using your normal feed but adding in a fibre supplement. Our own brand ReguTum Fibre Care is a good choice. If you are looking for advice on approaching allergies then I recommend reading our blog 'Allergies in dogs & cats - a vet guide' for more information. Usually you would see diarrhoea or itching with allergies though. It is worth ruling out worms as the cause too. Please message us on [email protected] if you would like any further information.

How much

please could you tell me how much I should be feeding my cat he's a little overweight he weighs 7.7kg (he's a big cat though) I'm feeding him 68gms at the moment, although there are times when he's very hungry. I'm pleased with this food as my cat suffers with his digestive system and at long last I've found something that seems to be helping him.

  • VioVet Staff

From a health point of view, the correct amount to feed of a well balanced diet like this is simply the amount which produces the correct body weight. If he is overweight, he need to eat less unti he is losing weight (slowly!). So you should feed a bit less, say 60g daily and weigh him again in 2 weeks or so. If it was possible to be a bit hard-hearted like this, it would be very easy to keep adjusting the amount up or down until you found the amount which produced a stable weight of about 5kg (It is very unlikely that his healthiest weight would be over this, however big he is.) His final weight is not really as important as the amount of fat stored in the body. This should be assessed and reduced by giving less food as appropriate.

All of the above works perfectly in theory. In practice, a cat losing weight due to restricted food, usually feels very hungry and makes life a misery for its owner(s). Some people can cope with this by only ever giving food twice per day as a routine and ignoring any demands for more. Most people feel sorry for their hungry cat and give more food than is needed physiologically and so their cat is fat.

Basically, feed a bit less and your cat will lose a little weight. The correct amount of food to give is simply that amount which produces the correct body weight. There is nothing more to it than that.

Best of luck,

John

Choosing which food

Matty

I have been using the Sensible dry food for the last few years for my two adult cats - an 11 year old Siamese and a 12 year old Oriental and have been happy with it as the Oriental had always had a sensitive stomach in the past.
Sadly she has now passed away but we now have a two and half year old Tonkinese.
I was wondering whether to change to the Siamese breed food or whether to stay with the Sensible one. Can you recommend which would be best for the two of them taking into account their different ages? What is the difference between the two foods?
Thank you

  • VioVet Staff

There are lots of slight differences between the foods, but ideally I would suggest the Siamese breed food. Swith over to it gradually and do not overfeed it, but if either suffers from digestive problems then it would be acceptable to put both onto the Sensible diet.

Age

dave

Would it be ok to give this to my 6 month old kitten as he allways has loose bowls when we take them of wet food.

  • VioVet Staff

This food is recommended for cats over 1 year of age. However if your 6 month old is prone to digestive upsets and this diet suits him, it would certainly be acceptable for this to be part (or all) of the diet.
