Very, very useful bit of equipment for when I take my dog to the beach. Easy to loop it around a tree branch and leave her to wander while I have a swim. Good to know it's strong, plus it's light enough to carry in my bag.

Spring

David

Hi is the spring at the end to take up shock if the dog runs away while connected?
Thank you David

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, that is exactly why springs are often incorporated into these type of products. Most dogs soon learn the "boundaries" of their possible movement and do not suffer a sudden stop once this has happened. Some dogs take to being tethered better than others, but it does work well for some.

Strength of Tie Out cable

Mrs Julie Smith

I note these have a high breaking strength, but are these strong enough to stop staffies chewing through them? I need something strong enough for when we go caravanning, as one of my young staffies is a chewer and has chewed through several ropes and leads (of his and the other dogs) so far this year when tethered, but I haven't tried a tie out cable yet? Many Thanks. Julie Smith

  • VioVet Staff

The cable has a metal core, similar to cable bike locks. Although we can't guarantee that your staffie will not chew through it, it would be highly unlikely if they managed to chew through it. They are much stronger than ropes and leads, and the metal core should put off your staffie from chewing it as well.
