55 A life Saver for my Cat

Due to a bad allergy, we were advised to feed our Bengal cat on hypoallergenic food. We tried other products, but this one is perfect. She loves it too and her allergy has gradually abated. It is a bit pricey, but worth it.

The vet advised a HA cat food to try and see if my cat had a food allergy. I tried another one and although my cat liked it, it had a very dire effect in the litter tray department so I tried Royal Canin as the vet said another make might suit him better. Initially he was not so keen but I mixed a bit of the old one in with the this one and that did the trick. This does not have such adverse effect and he and the other two cats like it too. It is hard to feed one cat a special diet in a multi-cat household but the vet said the others can have it as well and that made life much easier. I would certainly recommend this product but introduce it gradually to let their tummy get used to it. I took about two weeks to transit from their normal food to this one.

Suitable for Cats with Kidney disease and IBD?

Angela

Is this food suitable for a 2 year old cat with CKD and IBD.? Is soya protein less protein content that animal protein. And is this suitable for a cat who is losing muscle mass?

  • VioVet Staff

Unfortunately there are no diets suitable for both IBD and CKD. I recommend discussing with your vet which is most appropriate to treat for in your particular cat. Often CKD is the more life threatening issue and kidney/renal diets are prioritised. There are a few different flavours to most kidney prescription diets so I advise trialling these for 6-8 weeks at a time to see which works best for your cat.
