Pro-Kolin+ is a carefully formulated probiotic and intestinal calming product for use in cats and dogs. It is very palatable and contains a number of different ingredients designed to contribute in different ways to settling diarrhoea quickly and safely. Pro-Kolin+ contains kaolin and pectin, both of which have been used for many years to absorb toxins and soothe the intestinal lining. The probiotic component is provided by the 'friendly' bacterium, Enterococcus faecium (NCIMB 10415) E1707. This helps to maintain the levels of beneficial bacteria.
Pro-Kolin+ is beef flavoured and most dogs and cats love the taste, making it easy to administer from the graduated syringe.
Once opened, can still be used up to it's expiry date.
Give by mouth for as long as considered necessary or as advised by your veterinary surgeon.
Pro-Kolin+ 15ml and 30ml:
*Indicated Species: Dogs
Pro-Kolin+ should be used for a maximum of 2-3 days. If the situation hasn’t improved after this time, it is advisable to contact your veterinary surgeon.
Pro-Kolin+ should be given either mixed in food, or placed directly into the mouth for as long as required, or as advised by your veterinary surgeon. Please be aware that the larger the syringe, the larger the nozzle. You may therefore find it difficult to administer this medication in the 60ml syringe with smaller pets.
To administer Pro-Kolin+, first work out how much you need to give your animal by looking at the dose chart. There is a circular ring on the syringe which you turn to choose the correct amount to give. Turn the ring until it is showing the correct amount and then push the syringe until it stops with the end inside the animal's mouth.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Protexin Pro-Kolin+, including answers from our team.
My 12 year old lab has arthritis and is on anti-inflammatory drugs called rimadyl. As a result of these tablets he gets diarreah quite often and also gets very gassy, which makes him sick. Every so often I have to take him off the rimadyl for a couple of weeks to help his tummy get back to normal. I give him pro kolin paste when he gets diarreah but I see you sell a different kind for long term use. Do you think this would be better for him?
Protexin Prokolin Enterogenic is recommended for long term use and would be helpful in your dog. If you do find that your dog still has occasional episodes of diarrhoea it is ok to use Protexin Pro-Kolin+ for a short time before switching back to enterogenic.
May i know the expiry date of 30ml and 60ml prokolin?
This varies from time to time, depending on the stock we have in the building. It is generally a long time; current stocks are all dated in 2018. If you place an order you can leave a note for our staff requesting a date of say, more than 12 months. We will be able to do this, or contact you with what is possible.
What does pro kolin do to help cure ginivitas
I would not expect this product to have any direct effect on gingivitis. It should help the digestive process and sometime symptoms which people are aware of and attribute to gingivitis, are in fact related to problems further down in the digestive tract. It is difficult to comment about any particular case without knowing all the details, but I doubt if this alone could cure gingivitis.
Can this be giving to nursing puppies and if so from what age can it be given?
It can be given as soon as they are on solid food, even if they are suckling as well, though you must take into account their small size when deciding on the amount to give.
Thanks for your advice.
I'm just looking to run a pro- botic to encourage good bacteria in Buddies gut,due to the long course of antibiotics. He doesn't have diarrhea..... and he can't have FOS... so this product you have mentioned will do this?
Yes, this product should be helpful in this situation and you can use it.
I have a cat with a UTI he's been on antibiotics for 30days.
He has staged 3KD and is a diabetic.
My? Is does your product have FOS in it and would it be safe for Buddy to use? He is between 10/15
I assume you mean fructo-oligosaccharides and it so, this product does not contain them. Strictly FOS are a pre-biotic, not a pro-biotic, and this contains just the latter. You could try something like Pro-Kolin Enterogenic as an alternative. It contains a good range of all these things and is usually very effective.
Please could you tell me the ingredients? My dog seems to be intolerant to soya.
This contains kaolin, pectin, beef flavouring and probiotic. There is no soya in there and it should be fine to give to your dog.
How should pro kolin be stored after opening and does it have a use by date after opening.
The manufacturers say that the use-by date still applies after opening. I would expect this requires that the cap is replaced, the contents have not been significantly contaminated and it is stored in cool, non-damp place. I believe it is usual to keep part syringes for some while and we have not heard of any problems or concerns regarding this issue.
Is the beef flavouring an artificial flavouring as my dog is allergic to meat protein so if the flavouring is from beef protein I would be unable to give this product to her. Many thank. Anna
Thanks for your question.
According to Protexin, it is "Artificial beef flavouring" inside Pro-Kolin+.
How long can you use this product for? Can it be used long term? Or is it intended for short term use only?
This product is intended for short-term use. If it is given regularly over an extended period it is unlikely to cause any harm of its own, but it might be masking another problem and ideally you should not need to. Persistent diarrhoea should be investigated in its own right by your vet if possible. If there is no underlying cause evident, then a (gradual) complete change of diet would be worth a try. If all else fails, Pro-Kolin+ can be used as needed.
