Program Injection for cats provides 6 months of protection against fleas from a single injection. It is given under the skin at the back of the neck. Injections can be given every 6 months to provide complete protection all year. Program 40 is for cats and weaned kittens under 4kg bodyweight, Program 80 is for cats over 4kg bodyweight.
Program works in effect by sterilising any female fleas which bite a treated cat, so they cannot breed. All cats in the household must be treated for control to be effective. Any dogs present must also be treated with an appropriate product as well.

How long does it take for the injection to work and how long after should I expect to still see fleas
The datasheet for this product states the following:
The product is intended for the 6-month long-term prevention and control of flea infestations and the treatment of FAD (flea allergic dermatitis) in cats. The product is effective against the pre-audit stages of the dominant flea species, Ctenocephalides felis and C. canis. It can be administered to all cats, including weaned kittens as well as pregnant and lactating queens.
Program does not kill fleas, it works by preventing flea larvae from maturing into adult fleas. Therefore you may still see fleas for a few weeks after application and the product is best used for prevention only. If your cat has an active flea problem then a flea killing ingredient spot on Advantage or Frontline Spot On may more more suitable.

Yes Program can be used at the same time as most wormers and other medications, including steroids and antibiotics. You should dicuss this with your prescribing vet first though in case it interferes with their treatment plan.

Program contains Lufenuron, this does not kill fleas but it prevents them from turning from Larvae into Adults. It's main purpose is to prevent flea infestations.
