55 Happy cat!

I bought this product as Bert is a very sensitive cat. When he gets stressed about anything, like the giant entire ginger Tom that patrols our garden, his bladder blocks and it’s back to the vet. Our vet recommended buying a feed specifically for urinary health, hence the order for Purina ProPlan Vetinary Diet. I was concerned Bert wouldn’t eat it, but I needn’t have been concerned. Bert loves it and so does his brother, Ernie, who really shouldn’t be eating it!

Urinary problems

Susan

My cat currently has hill feline cd
Is the purina ur going to be ok for her?
She is prone to cystitis

  • VioVet Staff

These 2 diets have similar ingredients and most cats will respond equally well to either diet. Some cats will not respond well to either diet. Personally I think you should be able to try either diet, but I would strongly recommend using a wet form of the diet, not the dried. This is intrinsically better for cats prone to cystitis. The more fluid these cats take in, the less likely they are to suffer with cystitis. I would recommend offering water in odd places around the house (leave a glass on a windowsill etc) and even perhaps get one of the pet water fountains. Cats will sometimes drink when they come across these. You can also add a little extra water to the food and mix it in. The more dilute the urine they produce, the less likely they are to get cystitis.
