PURINA® PROPLAN® VETERINARY DIETS Feline HA St/Ox Hypoallergenic is a complete hypoallergenic veterinary diet for the diagnosis and management of food allergies in cats of all ages, including kittens. Some cats may suffer from food allergy, which can cause skin discomfort and/or digestive upsets. PPVD HA is a true hypoallergenic diet formulated with protein that has been broken down (hydrolysed) into very tiny components that are too small to cause an allergic reaction, and a purified carbohydrate source. Such hydrolysed diets are recognised as the best type of food to use during an 'elimination diet trial' when trying to diagnose (or rule out) food allergy. During such a trial it is important that your cat is fed no other food or treats. PPVD HA is also useful for cats with severe bowel disease such as IBD as it is highly digestible.

With St/Ox to help support urinary health in cats which may be susceptible to urinary conditions.

Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Feline HA Hypoallergenic Cat Food

  • Single hydrolysed protein with low molecular weight to help avoid allergic reactions.
  • Purified carbohydrate to reduce potential antigenicity of the diet.
  • High palatability thanks to high quality ingredients and hydrolysed digest (feline palatability booster).

55 Essential source for HA cat food

Have problems getting proplan HA cat food in reasonable quantities - I have a cat for whom this is his main source of food. Got the bigger bag from viovet, (albeit at a higher price than I usually pay - but I think that is due to brexit/supply issues). My cat thrives on this food and loses weight/gets thin fur on the usual commercial cat food such as Felix.

Our cat has to have this food because of his over grooming problem, he is allergic to several things. Although this is a good food for him and he does eat it, I feel sorry for the poor thing, he must get fed up with them.

Multiple allergies

My cat has these allergies chicken/soy bean/corn/rice/oat meal/potato/peas/tomato/wheat an this food has some of them in. My vet suggested this is it safe. Confused

  • VioVet Staff

Purina HA contains hydrolysed protein sources. This means even if your pet is allergic to soya then it is processed in such a way that it cannot cause a reaction in your cat. All the other ingredients are also processed to ensure that even if your cat is allergic to the original ingredient they cannot react to the final product.
Your vet or Purina themselves will be able to discuss further if you are particularly concerned, I advise getting in touch with them.

Can you please give me a full list of ingredients. My cat is allergic to chicken in particular. Thank you.

  • VioVet Staff

The ingredients are listed in the link towards the bottom of the listing on the website. There is no chicken or any other animal protein in this food. It is a specially processed diet which has all the protein sources partially digested already. This means that there are no proteins present at all (such as those found in chicken) and so it cannot trigger an allergic response. (Even if chicken was on the ingredient list, it should not matter because the protein is "hydrolysed" and so could not cause a reaction even to a dog allergic to chicken.)

It is quite an unusual looking diet with a very pale kibble, but dose work extremely well and is a very popular and effective diet for dogs with dietary allergies, whatever their cause.
