Description

Orijen Freeze Dried Tundra contains an unmatched 90% of meat including chicken, turkey, nest-laid eggs, wild-caught herring and flounder. This meat content includes the nutritious liver, tripe, marrow and cartilage which would be present in a wild diet, which avoids the need for extra synthetic ingredients to be added. There is also a small amount of fruit, berries and grass which, when combined with the meat content, is freeze-dried to lock in all the taste and goodness of the high quality ingredients.

Feeding guidelines

For your dog to enjoy orijen’s amazing fresh food flavors to the fullest, rehydrate orijen freeze dried foods by adding 60ml of warm water per medallion, wait 3-6 minutes and serve.

Using the table below as an initial guide, feed approximately 4% of your dog’s weight in reconstituted food daily. Feel free to supplement with the occasional raw meaty bone.

FDF- TUNDRA-feeding

  • Puppies: up to 50% grown feed twice adult amount, 50-75% grown feed 1½ times the adult amount, and 75-100% grown feed 1¼ times the adult amount
  • Gestation: add ½ extra medallion per 5kgs of mothers body weight per day

45 Best food for allergies
Verified Purchase

After trying loads of different foods including grain free I was getting pretty desperate to find something to calm down his tummy & itchy paws as he would make them bleed. After a few weeks on this food he improved dramatically as far as the tummy was concerned although we still do have issues with the paws.

55 Great for fussy dogs

By (Staff Review) on 29 August 2017

My dog is fussy beyond belief, to the point that she would refuse to eat any of her food for multiple days in a row, no matter the brand, flavour or texture. This is the first and only food (coupled with the Orijen dry biscuits) that she has ever consistently eaten every day and even wanted more than she was given!

Naturally this food is arguably one of the absolute best dog foods in terms of nutrition due to the extremely high quality and composition of ingredients, and the minimal amount of processing compared to other foods.

I can't praise the price of the food though unfortunately, I feel this is only a sensible choice for smaller dogs if you are planning on feeding it on a regular basis, I shudder at the thought of trying to buy enough for anything much larger than my 10kg dog, though you get what you pay for I suppose! Otherwise, it might be nice as a treat every now and then for bigger pup.

Preparation is definitely different, though it really is very simple, the food comes in medallions which are quite soft and break easily so you can divide it into as large or small bite sized pieces as your dog prefers, and then covering them with a layer of warm to hot water so that they are just submerged, and leave it to re-hydrate for about 5 minutes. You can then drain the water, or feed as is.

55 A lot less but a lot more!

I haven't been able to feed my dogs wet or dry foods fully as I have found they are much more hyperactive and will eat other animal pooh and their own! At first I was a bit sceptical about the price and the amount their is as nowhere on the packet explains how much you get when its hydrated but 2 medallions a day is more then enough for my mini Schnauzer. Some might say its a little bit time consuming and it does look just like normal dog food when hydrated. The ingredients are amazing my dog has HGE so the gentle contents of ingredients encouraged me to give this go plus I have all ways heard good stuff about Orijen food. My dogs seem calmer and eagerly munch through this with gusto! If you want to feed raw but your not sure about it yet give this a go in the mean time it maybe more convenient for you. I have 4 stars on quality because the packet arrived dirty other then that I can't find any fault.

35 A shame it was mainly crumbs

I bought two bags for my dog as a treat. The food presents itself in 'medallions'. My dog requires 5 of these medallions per meal. One bag was ok but the other was all broken into crumbs making it extremely hard to measure the food out. This is a shame as the food is expensive at £25 for less than half a kilo bag!!

Can the freeze dried be given with kibble

Nicola

Hi could you please tell me if the freeze dried food can also be mixed with the orijen kibble?

Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

Hello,

Thank you for your question,

Yes. The best way to do so is by crumbling a small amount of freeze-dried ORIJEN onto ORIJEN dry food.

I hope this helps, if you have any further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us.

How many medallions?

Jo T

Hi, this food sound fab.
I would like to work out how long a bag of 454g would last.
Do you know approximately how many medallions per bag, or how many grams a medallion weighs.

Many thanks

  • VioVet Staff

The 170g bag contains 12 medallions and the 454g bag contains 30 medallions.
