Description

Feeding oil is an established part of many equine diets. Increasingly oil is being used as part of the energy quotient of the diet, and Omega Oil is ideal for this purpose. Omega Oil provides slow release energy that is efficiently metabolised by the horse and is particularly recommended as a source of energy for performance; such as eventing, high-level dressage and endurance.

When changing the diet to include high levels of oil it is very important to build the amounts up gradually to allow time for the horse’s metabolism to adapt.

When feeding an oil rich diet it is recommended that the oil is balanced with antioxidants; D-Tox or Vitamin E and Selenium Plus are ideal for this purpose.

Bought for two Welsh ponies who can be a bit fussy! Both love it, easy to use. The ponies have beautiful shiny coats. Definitely recommend.

An excellent oil. I have been using this oil for my horse for over a year. I have never used Omega oil before but I am convinced it has improved the condition of his skin, coat and hooves, especially a forefoot that had a non healing crack, which combined with a hoof clip seems to be on the mend. Really happy with this product.

Suitable for dogs

Jane Morris

Is your product safe for dogs?

  • VioVet Staff

This product is for use in horses and I cannot advise on it's use in dogs. I'd recommend using a dog safe omega oil, such as NVC Omega Oil for Dogs.

Amounts of docosahexaenoic acid

Amie grey

Hi, I read a report which suggested 1.5g supplementation of docosahexaenoic acid per day for equine asthma. Will this product provide this for my 700kg horse?

  • VioVet Staff

Docosahexaenoic acid is one type of Omega 3 fatty acid and is found within Omega 3. This Omega Oil contains Omega 3 and so will contain Docosahexanoic acid, however I cannot comment on how much specifically as this has not been tested.

Dogs omega oil

sam

can i give this oil to my dogs if what dose

what’s the ratio of 3-6 in this product

  • VioVet Staff

Hello Sam,

We wouldn't advise giving any products to dogs that are intended for horses (or any other animal). This is because the products are tested and manufactured for horses only, which means there are no dosage guidelines for dogs.

NAF do have a version of this for dogs that would be suitable.
NAF Canine Omega Oil for dogs

I hope this helps.
