Five Star Oestress from NAF is a nutritious blend of herbal extracts which promotes aid for mares during season. The ingredients also act as a general supplement for the mare's hormonal system. As well as making her relax, NAF Five Star Oestress supports her system against anxiety and muscle tension. It also contains natural antioxidants to flush the system of toxins.

Available in both powder and liquid form, NAF Five Star Oestress should be fed daily through the spring and summer and can be incresed in accordance with the oestrus cycle. It can, however, be used all year round.

Can I feed alongside regumate?

1st May 2017
Aimee holt

Hi there

Am I able to feed this alongside regumate or would you suggest sticking to just one or the other? My mare is having pain from ovaries which is causing her to be very sensitive to ride. I'm sure regumate will work in terms of stopping her coming inTo season but thinking maybe a herbal will also help her.

Also would you recommend this product or Dodson and horrell stroppy mare?

  • Veterinary Advisor

It would be perfectly acceptable to feed this supplement alongside Regumate. They work in different ways and could be very helpful to your mare. Although there have not been any clinical studies done to suggest how effective these supplements are people do report good results. With regards to the NAF or D&H supplement they are very similar and I can't say that I have found one to be better than the other. Sometimes one seems to work better than the other for certain horses but there is no exact science to it. I would just pick one to try and see how it works for your horse.

Powder or liquid?

10th Jan 2017

Hi, is there a difference in the strength of product between the liquid and powder? Is one better than the other or just personal preference? The mare in question has painful ovaries and is feeling tender and grumpy, looking for something to soothe her so she can be ridden again! Thanks.

  • Veterinary Advisor

The choice between the two is basically personal preference. General advise to horse owners is to start the mare on the liquid as due to the solution extraction process for the herbs, we do find herbs in a liquid form become active within the system slightly quicker but the strength of the two is the same.
