45 NAF Canine Omega Oil

This product is fine no issues with what it is. I would like it better if it was easier to pour. It is very difficult to pour slowly for small quantities without making a mess and it going down side of bottle. I am thinking of decanting it into something easier to dispense from.

It took a few weeks but the Omega Oil has stopped Jack from scratching and biting himself. His skin did not appear to be red, but it was intense frantic itching and it drove me mad, let alone Jack. I am pleased to say he is fine and his coat looks good.

Very good. Her coat is so soft & shiny. She has not been licking her feet quite so much, hopefully get better over time as she has not been on the omega oil that long. There seems to be no side effects either.

55 Great product

I give this to all my dogs but one did have problems with dry irritable skin and this has cleared up since using the NAF Oil. All my dogs have lovely coats, the hair is so soft and shiny people always comment on their coats. My 2 older dogs are still out running everyday and I do believe that this contributes to their joint health. Also my dogs love the taste***** recommended.

45 Helping keep my dog shiny

I bought this as my Cocker Spaniel seems to be suffering from dry, irritable skin and a dull coat. I haven't used it for long but he seems to enjoy the taste and his coat has already become more shiny. The only downside is that the oil leaks out of the top of the bottle when it is being poured and I have to wipe it clean every time. Nothing major to worry about, it would just be better if it didn't happen. Overall happy with this product so far.

Elderly dogs with arthritis

Antonia

I have two elderly dogs (turned 10 years), one with hip dysplasia and arthritis and the other with (I think, but not diagnosed) with old age stiffness, possibly arthritis. They both already take glucosamine chondroitin supplement daily. I started them on this because it works on me (I have arthritis). A also now take omega 3 and have been searching for a dog omega 3 capsule/ tablet to give them, because it helps me. I can't find a tablet form anywhere. Will it be beneficial for my boys? I know they love going out and are enthusiastic for walks but they are slowing down quickly now but I'm not sure if it's general old age or aching bones. They have no problem taking tablets but turn their nose up at additives in their food and I don't waste things. How much would they need to take (22 kilos and 12 kilos) and would it be OK to put drops on their tongues?

  • VioVet Staff

I would certainly continue with the glucosamine/chondroitin and it is possible to add an Omega 3 supplement. I would suggest Omega Aid which is on the website and the dose is in the description. It is not certain if this helps joint stiffness or not, but some people feel that it helps their dogs and it is safe enough.

Shedding of hair

Tannaz

I have a 3 month old shih tzu and I've noticed he sheds a lot of hair but not enough to make a visible difference to his coat. He is very happy and healthy and I brush him everyday so I'm not sure why this is so. Will this product help?

  • VioVet Staff

This product can certainly help condition the skin and coat. It might not stop him shedding any hair. Many dogs shed some hair all the time and for them it is normal. At 3 months of age, lots of dogs are changing their coat from puppy to adult anyway. Losing hair is not a problem at all as long as it is being replaced at the same rate. You will just have to brush the loose hair away, but this could be a perfectly normal and healthy thing to be happening.
