Melacutin & Loxicom?

Hi, can Melacutin be taken if Loxicom is used daily? Also be used with Senelife?
My 15yr old dog is starting to be unsettled at night & takes a while to sleep. He can sleep in the daytime so Ive tried to keep him awake during the day so hes tired at night but easier said than done!

  • Veterinary Surgeon

It is not unusual for older dogs to become restless at night. Melacutin may be helpful and can be used alongside Loxicom and Senelife. Leaving your dog in a darkened, warm room with the radio on quietly overnight may also be helpful. Failing any improvements you can speak to your vet about stronger prescription medications.

My 4year old wirehaired vizsla was diagnosed with seasonal alopecia last year. It has returned again.Am currently giving him vitality brewers yeast tablets can melacutin be given along side? Also my dog sleeps well .will this product make him lethargic?

It is possible that your dog will want to sleep more if given this product, though you may not notice this effect. If you do, you might be able to time the administration of medication to coincide with when you want him to sleep anyway. I do not expect there to be any problem giving it alongside brewer's yeast tablets.

Are there any side effects with melacutin? Or if used long term in puppy?

I have 2 puppies and they are awake most of the night . Every single noise disturbs them and then we get disturbed too. Can I use melacutin for them? would it help to settle them ? But I am concerned about side effects especially if I use long term. Any info would be appreciated . Thank you

I would not recommend this product for puppies. It is more important to establish a regular routine and simply expect them to be left quietly over night. If you pay them any attention when they are playing up at night, they are more likely to be restless as time goes on. You should try and occupy them during the day so that they are tired at night, then leave them to it in a darkened, warm environment. Gentle, quiet background noise (leave a radio on) can be helpful too. They just need to get used to sleeping overnight.
