Description

Liquivite is a liquid food for cats which enables feeding of cats which cannot or will not take in solid food or drink liquids. It both rehydrates and feeds the cat, and can be fed via a syringe when the cat doesn't have an appetite

It includes various essential minerals and vitamins which are included at rates which are suitable for animals under stress. It contains a prebiotic to feed the beneficial bacteria in the gut, rosemary for its anti-oxidant properties and EPA and DHA which are an anti-inflammatory and boost the immune system.

Benefits

  • Levels of vitamins and minerals meet the requirements of the cat or dog when under stress conditions
  • The meats, eggs, milk and yeast provide a balanced amino acid profile in a readily assimilated peptide form. The yeast also contributes B vitamins content and is a source of nucleotides
  • Fish Oils provide omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, important to the immune system
  • The natural anti-oxidant has a two-fold role, firstly preserving the food against fat oxidation, and then once absorbed act in the animal's body to protect it against free radicals
  • The pre-biotic, Profeed, promotes the beneficial bacterial population of the intestine
  • Cereals, poorly utilised by dogs, and especially by cats, are not included in Liquivite
  • Of the copper inclusion, 30% is chelated, to make it more available to the animal.
  • Taurine is added, particularly important in perfecting eyesight in cats

Feeding guidelines

Amounts to feed reflect Liquivite's higher moisture content and its role in re-hydrating as well as feeding the sick cat or dog. For cats, introduce at 100g per kg of bodyweight; increase by 50% as appetite returns. For small breeds of dogs introduce at 100g per kg of bodyweight, for medium breeds at 80g, and for large breeds at 60g. Increase by 50% as appetite returns. These directions are given on the labels, as are amounts to feed the weaning kitten or puppy.

Shake can well before opening. Once opened, use within 24 hours, refrigerating any unused portion. Return to room temperature before feeding. Liquivite also freezes well, allowing its use over a period of time, for example where small daily amounts are needed for the weaning kitten or puppy. Freeze Liquivite in serving-sized amounts. When required, defrost and allow to return to room-temperature, stir well, and feed as normal.

45 Good for cats with no teeth

The product is great, though sometimes can take a long time, weeks, to arrive. Many of the cans arrive dented and I am concerned about the damage to the cans causing spoiling of the cat food. The cans arrive we’ll packed, so they are sent out dented. The product itself is very good for cats with lingering dental issues

Bought this as a "standby" as our cat has a recurring problem with ulceration in his mouth which can prevent him from tolerating solid food . Have used it twice so far and it seems to be well tolerated. Reassuring to have it for the times he relapsed and of course it has a long shelf life

One of my cats periodically goes off all his food but he’ll always lick up this product. He’s only ever needed it for 1or 2 days but it’s fantastic to not have to panic about his eating. It’s not cheap but worth every penny when it’s needed.

55 A really great product

I have an ailing elderly cat with teeth issues and she often goes off her food now, but she finds Liquivite to be palatable, a consistency that allows her to lick it up and easily ingest also we have been able to syringe feed her with it - when necessary. Great to have in the store cupboard as a 'just in case' for if our other cats have an off food day too.

Cat with lymphoma

Tracey

My cat has lymphoma of the intestines and has been given a couple of months. Struggling to get him to eat anything. Would this be suitable to serve?

  • VioVet Staff

This is a good choice if your cat is not eating solid food well. However it is worth checking with your vet first if this is suitable, without knowing the exact treatment your cat is being given it is hard to say that this will definitely be safe for use.

How long does a tin last?
How much do you give at a time?
Mine get fed morning and night with dried food left down all the time .
Thankyou x

  • VioVet Staff

For cats, introduce at 100g per kg of bodyweight; increase by 50% as
appetite returns.
How long a tin lasts depends on the weight of your cat, a 200g tin will feed a 2kg cat according to the dosing guidelines. The tin must be discarded 24hours after opening and so should be used up within this time.

How long no can I feed him this

Haley Messent

My cat has problems within his mouth I have seen a great improvement since feeding him this, but how long can I continue to feed him this. Am I meant to stop feeding him this after a period of time or is it ok to continue ?

  • VioVet Staff

It is perfectly fine to continue feeding Liquivite long term if required. It can be given on its own or mixed with dry food to make it easier to eat.

Teeth Problems

Marjorie Cash

My cat is 14. He only has his fangs left. Vet says apart from no teeth he is fit for his age. He is having a problem picking food up from his dish. Would a liquid food be ok for him?

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Marjorie,

Yes you can try this. Liquivite is a liquid food which enables feeding of cats which cannot or will not take in solid food or drink liquids. It both rehydrates and feeds the cat, and can be fed via a syringe when the cat doesn't have an appetite. Either that or mashing it up and putting it on your finger for your cat to lick off.

I hope this helps.

Ckd cat

Is it suitable for a cat with chronic kidney disease? He also has a phosphate binder called Ipakitine sprinkled on his food. Sometimes his appetite goes and he won't eat solids.

  • VioVet Staff

This is not the perfect food for cats with failing kidneys, but it is very much better than eating nothing at all. It can be used with Ipakitine for cats like yours. Ideally you should aim to get your cat onto one of the kidney support diets, such as Hills k/d cat food, but cats like this are often very fussy so it is difficult. The worst thing is to eat nothing at all, though they never eat very much.
