Hypo allergenic treats

24th Nov 2015

Hi my welsh cardigan corgi has inflammatory bowel disease and is on ha food as his body can't break down protein do you have any treats that have no protein? I have been giving him your calming treat but it has chicken also so hard to find some nice treats

John Cousins

Unfortunately we do not have any treats with no protein. Often it is the case that protein is OK for dogs like this, but certain specific proteins cause trouble. Generally where this is the case, a food item which is different from any previous part of the diet might be fine. You could try something like dried fish treats (Lily's Kitchen Truly Naturals Fish Skin Dog Chews or Hollings Fish Bites) but obviously check with your own vet first.

Are they gluten free

Is this gluten free

  • Meds Advisor

Thank you for your question,

The Bedtime biscuits within the advent calendar are gluten-free, however the rise & shine and training treats are not.

I hope this helps, if you have any further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Arevthe treats suitable for a diabetic dog?

John Cousins

These treats do not contain sugars, so they are not bad for diabetic dogs. However they are still cereal based and in my opinion it would be better to give protein-based treats rather than high carbohydrate products to a diabetic dog. Simple dried meat or liver treats (high protein/low carbohydrate) are more appropriate in my view.
