This was recommended by my farrier to keep hooves supple in extreme weathers and it works. Keep safe away from dogs (especially labradors!) - mine ate the whole tub!

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Kevin Bacons Hoof Dressing for Horses, including answers from our team.
Pam
Farrier says liquid dressing better for winter as barrier against wet conditions but have heard from others it is just the same product but oil easier to put on in cold conditions. Want a barrier to prevent hooves getting too soft in wet muddy field. Is there any difference and is oil version more effective in preventing wet penetrating hoof wall? Any advice welcome thanks
Hi Pam,
Thank you for your question.
I have spoken to the manufacturers who have assured me that both the liquid and the oil dressing are exactly the same.
Hope that helps,
VioVet.

Hi whats the difference between the original and the tar based hoof dressing, read some where tar based better for mud in winter any truth in this?? Many thanks dawn
The hoof dressing original or black are the same, it's just that the tar based one has natural black coloring with a light antibacterial effect. The important thing is that the product without tar, is not very effective on and under the hooves.
