We were advised to order this from our vet, as our cat suffers from hypothyroidism, and is also low in potassium, which this product is for. Seems to be doing the trick, so definitely recommend this product.

55 Kaminox Liquid
Verified Purchase

By on 30 June 2019

This particular Medication was prescribed by our Vets, for one of our Cats.
As this is a [ Non - Prescription form of Medication ]

I was pleasantly surprised regarding, the purchase price from VioVet, especially when you compare the price we were initially being charged for exactly the same Medication, from our very own Vets.

Purchasing direct from VioVet, will save you close to almost [ 50% ] this is a substantial saving over a period of a year, especially when you purchase one [ 120ml Bottle ] every month.

I regard [ VioVet.co.uk ] as a prime example of how in this day and age, and with the right amount of pioneer spirit, one Company, can bring about changes which are necessary for the overall welfare of our Pets.

55 Keeps Potassium Levels Right Where You Want Them
Verified Purchase

Using this to help a cat with CKD whose blood work shows signs of hypokalaemia (low potassium). Keeps potassium level bang in the middle of the range. I administer a dose twice a day. I would recommend starting low then adjusting the dose as needed as high potassium levels can be fatal. It may take a few months of monitoring the blood work. Fairly palatable, he tolerates it but I mix it in with a few other of his liquid medications. Added benefits of B vitamins and Spirulina.

Kaminox side effects

Gerry Quinn

Since starting Kaminox supplement 2 weeks ago my cat has developed signs of Hyperesthesia. Not attacking her rear end but just twitching and looking towards her tail.Could there be be a connection?

  • VioVet Staff

Kaminox is a supplement and so there are no listed side effects, it is generally a very safe product. However it should be used only alongside veterinary advice, the potassium levels in your pet in particular need to be carefully managed whilst giving the product.
The switching and turning around signs you describe are more commonly related to an itch. It is worth ruling out fleas or other causes of itching in your cat too.

Additives

LS

Hi, can you please explain how to read the additives - is it mcg/kg of product? So how much then in 1 dose? Trying to calculate the exact dose of vitamins in 1ml
thank you!

  • VioVet Staff

The Additives are in written in millograms of ingredient per kilogram (or litre) of Kaminox liquid. For example, Vitamin B1 is 500mg/kg so there are 30mgs of Vitamin B1 in a 60ml bottle of the Kaminox.

Can i use this for my dog

Sue Cox

  • VioVet customer since 2017
  • From: kent, United Kingdom

this looks easy to give as its a liquid so can i give it to my dog with kidney failure?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, you can give this product to your dog. Depending on the degree of hypokalemia (low blood potassium) the usual starting dose would be about 2ml/5kg two to three times a day. You should check with your vet though if this would be a suitable dose for your dog.

Kaminox Supplement liquid

Tim Spurgeon

  • VioVet customer since 2016
  • From: Worcestershire, United Kingdom

We have a 7 year old Norweigan Forest Cat that was diagnosed with CKD stage 2, about 2 months ago. He is also borderline Proteinurea and borderline anaemic.

He has Semintra once daily to control the Proteinurea and approx once a month Vit B12 injection which does increase his appetite. And blood and urine tests every 6 weeks or so.

Kaminox Supplement liquid has been suggested to us by friends.
Can we administer Kaminox supplement to a cat taking Semintra?
Do l need a prescription to purchase Kaminox supplement?
Grateful & Thanks in advance, Tim Spurgeon
be safe to give with Semintra?

  • VioVet Staff

You do not need a prescription for Kaminox and it should be safe to give alongside Semintra- it may be very helpful. However unless your cat has low potassium levels when blood tested you should not give Kaminox. It is quite likely given your cats reduced kidney function that he will subsequently have a reduced blood potassium level but I would advise checking with your vet before starting on Kaminox.

The amount to feed is based on the cats body weight. The guidelines are to administer 2ml per 4.5kg of body weight 1-3 times daily or as recommended by your veterinary surgeon.
