Smells nice and my dogs fur is shiny and soft
Customer recommends this product
I’m not a fan of routinely bombarding my dogs with chemical flea treatments so using this as part of a targeted flea program is far preferable - it definitely keeps their fleas down and makes for a lovely clean, fresh smelling dog

This is always a good standby to keep in your cupboard. Smells nice and you don't need to use much for good coverage over even a large dog.

I haven't yet used this bottle but have almost finished a previous one. Pleasant smell, effective leaving a soft and shiny coat. Never any allergic reactions from any of the dogs I've used this on,over many yrs. Again, as an SQP I always believe in alternating products, check the active ingredients for that. I do buy many shampoos by this maker, they've been around as long as I can recall and I've always found them effective when used in conjunction with the other flea treatments. Important to bath your pet as this helps remove any flea dirt which may irritate their skin or dead/dying fleas.

This shampoo does the job. The fleas seem to die on contact. They just fall off into the bath or remain stuck to the wet fur, motionless. We picked them off and brushed the remainder off once the dog was dry. Very few survive, if any. I will be using this shampoo even when I can't see any fleas.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Johnson's Veterinary Dog Flea Shampoo, including answers from our team.

can you use flea shampoo if you are using frontline on the back of neck already
Yes this can be used alongside Spot On treatments. However you should ensure the spot on has completely dried after application, this can take up to a few days sometimes. You also may find you do not need to use a flea shampoo if you are using a Spot On as this should provide protection enough.

Does this shampoo also repel fleas or only kill live ones on the body of the animal?
This product contains Pyrethrum that will kill fleas. Once applied and washed off the effects will not last so it will not repel fleas.

can you use this shampoo again before 7 days as it has not cleared them the first time
Hello,
Thank you for your enquiry.
We would not advise using this again so soon.
There are 4 key steps in resolving flea infestations:
1. Treat all pets in the household with a suitable flea treatment, such as Frontline Plus (which also kills eggs) every 4 weeks throughout the year, flea infestations can happen during the winter when the heating is turned on.
2. Regularly vacuum all floors and soft furnishings and wash the pet's bedding at 60 degrees Celcius. Turn the heating up and boil the kettle to encourage any unhatched fleas to hatch so they can be killed, they like warm and humid environments. (The pupae stage of the life cycle is unaffected by any pesticide you must get these to hatch to be killed).
3. Treat the home with a household flea spray, this will stop the eggs hatching and helps prevent infestation. We would recommend Indorex. Spray the hoover and car as well. Take particular care to under furniture and in any cracks and crevices as these areas are favourable for development.
4. Give treated pets access to all their usual places as the treatment will kill any other fleas that they come into contact with.
Resistance with fleas is not possible, which has been clinically proved. ESCCAP, 2018.
Hope that helps,
VioVet.
