James Wellbeloved Housecat Duck Formula is designed for adult cats who spend all their time indoors. Being inside, your cat uses up less energy than one which roams outside, but it is likely that your cat still has a good appetite, so our Housecat Formula contains less fat than our standard adult food. To make the litter tray more acceptable, we use highly digestible ingredients to keep stool output low and we also add a natural clay to absorb many of the stool odours.
A complete dry food with the bonus that it is hypo-allergenic. With selected protein source (duck), it is a dietetic food, excellent for the reduction of ingredient and nutrient intolerences. We suggest that the food be tried for a period of 3 to 8 weeks. If the signs of the food intolerence disappear, continue feeding indefinitely.
Duck meal (27.5%), white rice, brown rice, duck fat, maize gluten, poultry gravy, duck digest, tomato pomace (2.5%), potato protein, dried meat-free stock, whole linseed, natural clay (1.0%), potassium chloride, chicory extract (0.25%), omega oil supplement*, calcium carbonate, carrot, sodium chloride, cranberry extract (0.05%), yucca extract (0.02%), rosemary extract.

Prices quoted are for delivery to all parts of mainland UK except certain Scottish postcodes (where the price is higher for items sent by courier. Delivery of food abroad (including Channel Islands, N. Ireland and other islands around the UK) is charged at a higher price and free delivery is not available. Temperature controlled products, such as Insulin, are also not always subject to the standard and/or free delivery options.
For full information on our delivery charges, including prices on heavy deliveries to Scotland and abroad, see our delivery information page.

For deliveries to the USA you may need to go to the checkout page and enter your full address to get a quote (as some services need your state in order to quote too). For more information on international deliveries, please see our delivery information page.
Due to restrictions aerosols can't be sent by Royal Mail. We appreciate your understanding.
Some products, such as insulin and frozen food, need to be delivered in insulated packaging to prevent them from getting too warm (or too cold) during transit from us to you. Purchasing any of these items in your order will result in a £1.99 charge being added to the total to cover the high cost of the insulated packaging materials. You only pay the £1.99 once per order, regardless of how many temperature controlled items you purchase in that order.
Please call us as soon as possible if you need to amend or cancel an order on 01582 842096. If your order has been processed for dispatch we will be unable to cancel or amend the order. You will however be able to return your product for a full refund*.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding James Wellbeloved Adult Housecat Duck Food, including answers from our team.
Any idea if the house-cat formula James Wellbeloved dried cat food is lower calorie than the Light version?
Given the house-cat formula is meant to be lower energy for cats that don't go outside and the Light formula says it's 15% lower cal than the regular formula, how do these two actually compare against each other?
The total calorie content of the light version is lower, which has been achieved by reducing the fat content. However it has even more carbohydrate in it than the Housecat version and it is a matter of much controversy as to which, if either, is more helpful for weight control. Personally I would suggest that the Housecat version is the better of the two. High levels of carbohydrate are a controversial inclusion for cat food. The other comment I would make is that many cats will get very fat on either of the diets if they are fed in limitless amounts. The only way to be sure that a cat will not over-eat is to offer food twice per day and make sure that any not eaten after a few minutes is removed. The concept of "grazing" is very appealing to generous and kind cat owners, but it produces a lot of fat cats. A measured amount twice per day is a much better plan - always when it is "time" and never on "demand" or hungry cats can become quite tiresome. Then the measured amount is increased or decreased gradually over time to produce a cat of the desired body weight. It always works, but ad lib feeding of high carbohydrate foods rarely does.
