I use this herb to treat ulcers. Unfortunately the only sign my horse shows of the problem are colics. No bad coat, no lack of appetite, no girthiness, no nothing else. Just colics. After a colic episode I prefer to use slippery elm with aloe vera for a few weeks. But if there is no recurrence, then I substitute slippery elm for marshmallow; being quite aware of the conservation issues with slippery elm.
