Description

Hilton Herbs Cleaver & Marigold are regarded as 'sister’ herbs by herbalists and are specific for supporting the horse's lymphatic and glandular systems. It is recommended particularly for stabled horses, elderly horses whose legs may become filled when stabled (in conjunction with stable bandages), when exercise is restricted or at any other time when lymphatic support is required.

Directions For Use:

Hilton Herbs Cleaver & Marigold should be added to the feed on a daily basis, if possible splitting the required amount between two feeds.

Up to 12.2hh : 1 scoop daily

12.2hh to 14.2hh: 2 scoops daily

14.2hh to 15.2hh : 3 scoops daily

15.2hh to 16.2hh : 4 scoops daily

16.2hh+ : 4 to 5 scoops daily

How much do I have give?

The amount of herbs you need to give is generally dependent on the height of your horse, with some allowance for type. Full instructions will be found on the packaging. The quantity of herbs added to your horse or pony's feed can be slightly increased or decreased, depending on the circumstances. Very often a lower maintenance dose can be sufficient for a horse or pony that is going to be kept on the herbs long-term. Remember, like humans, all horses and ponies are individuals.

I purchased the herbs for Gideon a17.2 hand Cleveland Bay who was experiencing filled legs when brought in overnight. He is turned out 24/7 in the summer but is brought in at night with his pals in the winter.
The problem was not really serious but I did not want the filling of the legs to become chronic. Surprisingly this combination of flower and weed works and since I started adding it to his feed the legs are back to normal

I have used this herbal mix many times over the years on lots of different horses. It works like magic on filled legs, most amazingly on a little mare whose legs filled overnight, and then had to be on box rest and cross tied for six weeks!! I thought her legs would explode. Herbs to the rescue, legs stayed slim, I stayed sane(ish)

Long term use

Tina

Can this be used long term? Am considering using October- May to help legs that fill when stabled overnight during the winter .thanks.

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this supplement is intended to be used long term so is fine to use for filling of legs over the winter. It would be helpful to put stable bandages on overnight too.

Suitable for a horse with lymphengitis

alex

Would the help a horse with lymphengitis?

  • VioVet Staff

This is a traditional remedy which has often been used for complaints affecting the lymphatic system, including lymphangitis. To my knowledge there has not been any scientific research into how effective it is and in what circumstances it might be most suitable. This means that it is usually used on the basis of anecdotal reports and personal experience. It is perfectly OK to add this to your treatment plan and hopefully it will contribute usefully, though you will not be able to know for sure.
