Advised by vet to get this food as my dog has signs of dementia. She loves it and it seems to be helping delay progression. Good value, the service of viovet is very good. Updates regarding delivery are really good. Very pleased

K/d vs B/d

Pamela Graham

My 14yo Lhasa Apso is currently fed hills k/d due to kidney disease but has been recently been started on vivitonin due to brain ageing problems and a recent stroke but it hasn't made any difference, I would like to try b/d instead but will this be ok with his kidney problems?

  • VioVet Staff

Hills b/d is a "senior profile" diet, meaning that it is generally expected to be given to older dogs with possibly reduced heart or kidney performance. The protein and mineral balance is tailored with this in mind. If your dog's kidney function is very poor, then the k/d might be best. However if the kidneys are not too bad, then the Hills b/d diet would probably be worth a try. It depends on the balance between the two concerns and which is greater. Your vet can advise you on this, taking into account blood and urine test results.
