Hi Life Special Care Dental Chews are made from natural hide and can help to discourage the build-up of tartar, clean teeth and gums and keep breath fresh when used daily.

Around 80% of dogs over the age of three suffer from some kind of dental problem so it’s important to keep your dog’s teeth and gums healthy. Left unchecked, a dog’s normal diet can lead to tartar build-up which in turn can cause inflammation and pain in the teeth and gums.

Feeding guidelines

For best results, feed one to three chews daily. These chews should not be fed to puppies under 9 months (smaller breeds) or 6 months (larger breeds). Never leave your dog unattended with any toys, treats or chews. Do not feed on carpets or other stainable surfaces. Always ensure your dog has access to plenty of fresh drinking water.

These are really good for their teeth and keep them amused and chewing for a good length of time. SO much better than the soft dental chews, which last a minute and can't be doing much for their teeth.

My dog enjoyed these chews, they lasted well and even kept intact when left out in the rain! I did only find 11 chews in a pack of 12 though

Unfortunately my little lass did not like these; think the strong peppermint put her off. A little dog who visits, liked his though when we offered him one. I have since learned he doesn't chew it, but thinks it's a great toy & carries it everywhere!

Dog with IBD

My dog has inflammatory bowel disease and we only feed him royal canin hydrolyzed dog food. Would these chews be suitable for him?

  • VioVet Staff

If your dog is on an anallergenic hydrolysed diet then it would be best to stick to hydrolysed diets only unless you are aware of what food allergen is an issue in your dog. These treats contain Rawhide which may contain proteins your dog is allergic to, the only way to be certain is to know what your dog reacts to.
Your safest option would be the Hills Hypoallergenic Dog Treats however without knowing the exact diet you are on and exact advice received from your vet I cannot say this is definitely safe either. It would be best to run the use of it past them.

Hypoallergenic dog

Hello my dog is hypoallergenic would these be suitable?

  • VioVet Staff

There is a slim chance that your dog is allergic even to the hide proteins in this product. However that is very unlikely and even dogs very prone to allergies are normally fine with these chews. You will only find out by trying them. Give just one and see how things go before you decide if you can go on giving them. It will probably be fine though.
