Hanging Cheek Snaffles

The Hanging Cheek Snaffle differs from other Snaffle Bits with the addition of a small ring above the lower ring; this is where the cheek-piece attaches to the bridle. The unique design holds the mouthpiece slightly raised in the mouth, as well as applying poll pressure to encourage a horse to break at the poll and flex more willingly. This bit is a popular choice in dressage, especially if the horse has been previously used to a jointed Pelham or Continental Bit.
