Description

Mon Petit is the latest range by Gourmet which provides your cat with an exquisite recipe which has been specially developed in a perfectly sized pouch which can be fed all at once, so you know they are always eating fresh food.

With fine cuts of either meat or fish in a delicious sauce, your cat is guaranteed a meal they enjoy every single time.

Feeding instructions: For an average adult cat (4kg), serve 6 to 7 pouches throughout the day in at least 2 separate meals. The adult maintenance averages are based on moderately active cats at normal environmental temperatures. Individual needs vary and feeding should be adjusted as required to maintain your cat at a lean, healthy body weight. Fresh, clean drinking water should always be available.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Gourmet Mon Petit Cat Food, including answers from our team.

Calories in Mon Petit 50g pouches.

Emma

My cat is on a strict calorie diet and she does not like the hills food! I have worked out the calories exactly she is allowed on her 12 week diet plan, and wish to feed her some Gourmet Mon Petit, but it really depends on the calorie content. Sheba state the calories 2 X 50g pouches provide but you do not. Please could you let me know per 50g mini pouch, or even a calorie MJ per kg is fine. Thanks.

I am not sure that these figures are available, but I also think that there is something wrong with your approach if I may mention this. Obviously I do not know you or your cat, but if a cat is on a calorie controlled diet, it should be hungry. Some cats will be hungry but not eat the new food they have been given. It is dangerous for an overweight cat to suddenly stop eating completely, so your cat must eat something each day. Make sure this is happening, whatever food you have to offer. If your cat is eating a bit, but just not eating the Hills diet very keenly and wanting something more tasty, then you will have to decide if you want your cat to lose weight or enjoy its food. An effective calorie controlled diet always results in reduced food intake. Substituting a tasty food for the uneaten Hills will result in eating more food, which surely is not what is going to help here. (The perfect food from a health perspective is perfectly balanced and nutritious but boring to eat. If we all had only that as an option, there would not be an obesity epidemic in the Western world, though we would not be able to enjoy the experience of eating.) I fear that you will have to decide what is important to you, but the only way a cat loses weight is for it to be hungry and not allowed to eat more food. Offering extra tasty food to encourage the cat to eat more does not seem likely to be effective to me.

Personally I would use high protein, low carbohydrate, zero sugar/cereal foods for your cat and feed the amount which just leaves your cat always keen to eat more, even at the end of each meal. Then adjust the amount based on your cat's weigh over time, not the number of calories in the food.

Just a thought. Hope it goes well whatever you do...
