Contraindications

Will

  • VioVet customer since 2022
  • From: London, United Kingdom

Hi, is this product contraindicated for a dog with Addison's disease taking daily Prednisolone ans monthly Zycortal? Thanks

  • VioVet Staff

This is a herbal product and so there is little research into it's use. It has not been tested specifically in Addisonian dogs or alongside Prednisolone and Zycortal so we cannot say for certain it will be safe.
However there is no ingredient within that stands out as being contraindicated for use in an Addisonian with these medications.

Suitable for dog prone to seizures?

Lynn

My dog is on Epiphen for occasional seizures. Is Golden Paste compatible with this medication? Thanks.

  • VioVet Staff

The ingredients within Golden Paste should be safe for use alongside Ephiphen. It is advised to run the use of the supplement past your vet though as they will be aware of the cause of the seizures, this knowledge may affect whether it is safe for use or not.

Safe for dogs with tumours?

Jenny

My dog has a tumour on her spleen and is currently taking Amantadine, Paracetamol and a Librela injection monthly. Will it be safe to use with these?

  • VioVet Staff

This should not interact with the medications you describe however I strongly advise running this past your vet. They will know more about the tumour and it's progression to advise on whether any supplements are definitely safe or not.

Hypoallergenic dog

Declan

Hi, I’m looking into buying this but would this reduce the itchy skin condition my husky has?

  • VioVet Staff

Turmeric has anecdotal anti-inflammatory effects. This may help reduce any skin inflammation but it is not certain the supplement will do this. I recommend reading our Allergies Blog for a guide if you need advice for an allergic dog.

Supplement

Tania

My 20kg dog has OA lower back, hips and hind legs, he is currently prescribed metacam and gabapentin. I also give supplements of joint force and cod liver oil. Can I use tumeric golden paste as well?

  • VioVet Staff

Golden paste is safe to use alongside Metacam, Gabapentin, Joint Force and Cod Liver Oil. However its active ingredients, namely Turmeric (Curcumin), are also present in Joint Force so you will be doubling up on some of the ingredients. This should not cause any harm but you may not see a significant difference on the Golden paste as well.

How much should I be giving my dog in their food each day. I have a Border Collie approx 19kg.

The dose does not vary depending on the size of your dog, the guidelines are pasted below:

for the first week with food. The following week, feed 1/4 teaspoon
twice a day with food. Each week you can increase until desired effects
