Teddie my rescue dog has lifelong skin issues so helping keep her short dense coat in good order is important. I have a large furminator which I had for my old Irish Wolf Hound and so have purchased the small one for teddie - although expensive certainly does a good job in removing the under hair - would stress best used as part of the overall grooming care - say once a week in shedding time and once every two weeks other times. General brushing every day.
Very strange to use on my 4 month old Chow Chow pup, felt like I was ripping her fur out. Will wait till winter to see when she starts shedding to try again. Not much use for now as I stick with the slicker brush.
I had heard huge rave reviews but was always turned off by the price, however the ridiculous amount of fur my JRT is shedding (and no other brushes making much of a difference) finally convinced me to give the furminator a try. Believe the hype folks, its great!
At the present time the dogs are at the end of their winter shedding. Will discover the benefit of this tool when the warm weather arrives. One bitch in particular has a very dense coat, so that is when the challenge will be. Unable to give rating at this time
Brought this after a my neighbour showed me her one in action, Mickey has a lot of under fur and gets really itchy I was so impressed I thought I'd buy one and give it a go.
Mickey loves being groomed with it, it's got a gentle action (not ripping the hair out) and really does the job well, he now goes to his cupboard when itchy - almost as if he's asking to be groomed!!
Tia my staffy enjoys it too and she has a super short, quite thin coat and normally hates being groomed.
