Description

As there is a strong correlation between stress and urinary health, FortiFlow™ is a supplement for both cause and effect; on one hand helping to reduce stress and related behaviours, and on the other, working to support and maintain normal urinary tract function and relieve associated discomfort.

These soft chews have a mild meaty flavour and crumbly texture. If not taken like a treat, they can be crumbled into food and won't overpower your cat's dinner. Purrfect!

FortiFlow™ Urinary support for cats contain a careful blend of ingredients chosen for their gentle but effective properties,

  • N-Acetyl Glucosamine (not to be confused with other forms of glucosamine eg. for joints) which is often used to treat inflammatory conditions and may help protect the lining of the bladder wall.
  • D-Mannose is a natural sugar thought to assist in preventing recurrent cystitis by binding to bacteria, and is found in cranberries and other berries, peaches, apples and some plants.
  • Finally, the inclusion of L-Tryptophan - an amino acid precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin - will help keep your cat calm, happy and contented.

If your primary concern is stress & calming support, we suggest trying our SettleMe Calming Range.

Chews are cylinder shaped, approximately 12mm long and 9mm deep.

35 Does not like taste

I brought these as an alternative to Cystophan. My cat doesn't like the taste at all. I mix in food but he's still reluctant to eat but eventually will. I'm not sure of the results yet but so far he's not had any bladder issues

55 Brilliant!

By on 1 September 2021

My 21-year-old cat if probably the faddiest on earth but she'll eat these like cat treats. So glad I've found them as it's the first time I've been able to give her this type of medication easily. They also seem to be working very well. Can thoroughly recommend.

My cat seems to like it, and it's like giving him a cat treat instead of trying to get a tablet down his throat.

How often

Amanda

How many fortiflow chews should one feed a day for a semi elderly cat with stress who is losing weight.

  • VioVet Staff

This depends on the weight of your cat, you should dose based on this using the table below. if your cat is losing weight and you are not sure why then it is advised to see your vet to rule out possible causes of this:

| Cat weight | Initial 4-6 weeks | For maintenance thereafter |
| Under 5kg | 2 chews per day | 1 |
| Over 5kg | 2-3 chews per day | 1 or 2 |

Substitution for wet meat

Rachel

My cat currently is on a urinary controlled wet and dry food diet. If I use these tablet, can my cat have normal wet food instead of the urinary wet food?

  • VioVet Staff

This supplement is great for supporting the bladder and calming your cat, ideal for conditions like Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). It is not a suitable substitute for a urinary veterinary diet though. This is because urinary diets often help to maintain a certain pH (aciditity/alkalinity) to the urine to prevent certain crystals/stones forming. Different urinary diets do this in different ways, but all work by altering the dietary intake of acidic/alkaline ingredients. The only way to have this effect is by control of the diet, a normal diet with FortiFlow  may not help in this way.

FortiFlow is still a great addition though alongside any diet if your cat suffers from urinary tract problems.

CKD

Jess

Is this suitable for cats with CKD?

  • VioVet Staff

This product contains flavouring, any additional flavouring in supplements can interfere with prescription kidney diets. This is usually minimal and perfectly safe if your cat has moderate or mild kidney disease, but if the disease is end stage or severe I advise discussing with your vet whether this is safe or not.

Sample?

Kim

  • VioVet customer since 2017
  • From: , United Kingdom

My cat is pretty fussy, is there any way of getting a small and inexpensive sample before committing to a whole tub?

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Kim,

I'm afraid we don't have a sample pack for this product at the moment, but if you want to give it a go, the 15% off offer will run until the end of this month. The chews don't have a strong flavour, and can also be crumbled easily and mixed into food.

I'd recommend starting with a small amount of the chew (maybe 1/4 and don't show her that you've added it to the food) and build up to giving her a whole one over a week or so, so she can get used to something new.

If you do decide to give it a go and you don't have any luck, just let us know.

Kind regards,
Danielle

Settle Me Chews

Helena

  • VioVet customer since 2016
  • From: Lincolnshire, United Kingdom

I have read the ingredients in the chews and I see that they contain sugar .Is this a different type of sugar than that that is found in some cat foods (which I avoid ) as I have always been led to believe that cats do not need sugar but being a fruit sugar I'm thinking maybe this is ok?
Yours Sincerely
Mrs H Woolley

  • VioVet Staff

Hi Mrs Woolley,

D-Mannose is included for it's ability to bind bacteria that can cause inflammation and damage to the bladder lining, and to bind harmful substances that can cause blockages in the urinary tract. The amount provided in each chew is very small but it is not digested or intended to provide an energy source, so it is safe even for diabetic cats. The majority of D-Mannose is passed out in the urine (where in the bladder it can bind bacteria or toxins) and only a negligible amount is used in the body so it does not affect blood sugar levels.

I hope this is helpful! Please feel free to order a taster pack to see if your cat likes them and let me know if I can help further.
