A super-high quality vitamin-mineral liquid supplement, Farnam Red Cell European Formula arguably sets the industry standard in champion horse nutrition. With some 300mg/oz of chelated iron, Red Cell is a powerful, effective and trusted supplement, homogenised for optimal consistency and boasting high palatability with its strong Yucca flavour. Available as both a liquid and an easy to use syringe which gives your horse an instant boost in resistance and strength to allow the horse to perform at its maximum capabilities.

It combines two strong antioxidants, dehydrated cantaloupe juice and vitamin E, which scavenge free radicals. Designed to be fed throughout training and competition.

Farnam Red Cell Recovery aids in muscle function and repair. It maintains and minimizes post-exercise muscle breakdown that occurs after intense training and competition. Supplies antioxidants that decrease oxidative stress associated with strenuous exercise. Replaces electrolytes lost through sweat. For all classes of horses.

Easy to use formula provides high levels of vitamins and trace elements to give your horse an instant boost in strength and resistance to allow the horse to perform at its maximum. Contains L carnitine and DMG, essential nutrients to increase oxygen delivery to the muscles during a work out. Feeding guide: directly into the horse's mouth, 1 entire syringe 24hours before a competition. Optional feeding 1/2 syringe to 1 syringe the morning of the competition.

This product has helped my horse find his mojo. He had been quite lethargic and after checking all other avenues with the vet I bought this to help him. I'm very impressed.

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Farnam Red Cell for Horses, including answers from our team.

Red cell

Is it true that red cell is no longer used in racing yards as the ingredients were being too close to some of the non racing ingredients?i worked in a big stable and always praised the stuff.if this is true, isn’t there a new product out?

  • VioVet Staff

Red Cell contains Cobalt which given at high levels can enhance performance in racehorses and may have welfare implications. For this reason there is now implementation of a raceday cobalt threshold. This threshold has been determined to permit the use of supplements that contain low levels of cobalt (such as Vitamin B12). However, as these supplements would not be considered normal feed and water, they must not be administered on raceday in accordance with the usual Rules of Racing.

Good for lacking energy?

Fi ford

I have a vetern pony lacking energy, will this help him?

  • VioVet Staff

Yes, this product should help him. It can be used in horses competing at 2 fluid ounces daily and those not competing at 1 fluid ounce daily. The theory is that it boosts energy levels and aids quicker recovery after exercise. If your veteran pony has become more lethargic than normal recently it might be worth getting your vet to do a cushings blood test if you haven't already- a common cause of lethargy in older horses.

Use of electrolytes with this

Rita Bull

  • VioVet customer since 2015
  • From: Cornwall, United Kingdom

Would i still need to give my horse electrolytes along side this ? is it ok to use with feedback settlex ? (my horse produces excess gastric acid ) thanks Rita

  • VioVet Staff

This is given for different reasons than electrolytes. Farnam Red Cell is best given all the time, electrolytes are normally only needed after heavy exercise (or even minimal exercise on a hot day if it results in a lot of sweating). They can both be given along with Settlex.
