Can you recommend another probiotics for goats please?

John Cousins
  • Veterinary Surgeon

I am not aware of any probiotic which is specifically intended for goats, or indeed any other ruminant. It is very possible that goats could benefit from one, but I do not think anything is available commercially yet. A small amount of faeces from another healthy, recently wormed goat could be given, but in most circumstances it would probably make no difference. I wish I could help you better. What is your reason for wanting to give probiotic? You can email me directly - john@viovet.co.uk

Is this ok to give goats?

Ok for goats?

John Cousins
  • Veterinary Surgeon

This would be safe for goats but I am not sure how useful it would be. Goats are "ruminants" and they have separate and different parts of the gut which should contain thriving populations of very different organisms. There has not been a great amount of research into which organisms are most appropriate for goats, or how useful they can be. This product would do no harm, but it is not possible to say how useful it would be.

Suitability for equine metabolic syndrome

Is this suitable for ponies with equine metabolic syndrome recovering from laminitus?

John Cousins

This product should be safe and might well be beneficial for your horse, but you should check with your own vet who is familiar with the individual case, before giving any medication ideally.

What is the best probiotic for a dog on two life long antibiotics? I give him live goats yoghurt just now. Should I leave a 2 hour gap between probiotics and antibiotics? Thanks

John Cousins
  • Veterinary Surgeon

It is certainly best not to give probiotics at the same time as the antibiotic, so a gap is a good idea. The Entrodex is a good product and is a reasonable choice to try. There is no good evidence to demonstrate if one particular product is better than any other, so you have to just try one and see how well it works.

Shipping and Quantity

1) Do you ship to Malta?
2) How much shipping cost would it be per 0.5kg?
3) What amounts of Entrodex Probiotic do you have? For example, do you have tub which weighs 500g?
I would be grateful for your assistance. Thank you

John Cousins

We charge a flat rate of £10 for posting any item to Malta. For this we can send up to a maximum weight of 2kg inc packaging. The largest size we sell is 200g, so you could probably buy up to 9 of these in one order for £10 delivery charge.
