Dodson & Horrell Ulca-Tonic for Horses

  • 1 litre Bottle £26.99

Dodson & Horrell Ulca-Tonic is a herbal liquid blend which help protect the lining of horse's delicate stomach and intestinal tract. If the digestive acids that the horse naturally excretes are not absorbed by a balanced feed intake then gastric acidity will erode the stomach lining and could lead to ulcers. Ulca-Tonic has been proven to alleviate the symptoms in racehorses showing signs of gastric ulcers.

Is this a treatment for ulcers or a prevention?

  • Veterinary Advisor

This product helps to protect the stomach lining therefore helps to prevent ulcers forming. However it is unlikely to treat ulcers that are already there. I would suggest Omeprazole (Gastroguard or Peptizole) to initially treat ulcers which would require a prescription from your vet.

Just curious

I have a spasmodic colicer ex-racer and was wondering if this could be of any help, although I already have him on a maintenance dose of Protein Gut Balancer

Good question and the answer is it might, but you would have to try it to find out! Some horses certainly do seem to respond, others do not. This is difficult to predict.
