The D Cheek Snaffle gains its name from the D-shaped rings either side of the mouthpiece. Unlike the Loose Ring Snaffle, the rings are attached to the mouthpiece , reducing the risk of the bit pinching at the lips. The D Cheek Snaffle is recommended for training a green horse, as the relative safety will ensure a positive bit experience for the young horse.
