55 These work a treat

Our girl has a very sensitive tummy and various food intolerances. We're still trying to figure out exactly what she can and can't have. When she has an upset, 2 Colaid capsules will sort her out within a few hours.

My Vet recommended them to my master many years ago for when I've eaten something I shouldn't have!
It certainly helps settle my tummy when I've been naughty and eaten the wrong things. You know what Labradors are like!

55 Great for IBS
Verified Purchase

Our dog has suffered from IBS all her life and we have tried everything but we could never get her to poop "normally" like other dogs. We couldn't find much information about this, and after reading the list of ingredients, we were initially worried she would have an adverse reaction to all the different ingredients listed in this product. But we decided to go ahead try it anyway (since we've run out of solutions). This is FANTASTIC! Her poop stabilised within a couple of days after starting this. It's already 2 weeks of taking this, and she has absolutely no adverse reactions so far! Very happy with our purchase.

I was advised to use this product by my vet as my dog has colitis, it lines his bowl and helps to settle his symptoms, it appears to work so after many years on this product I am reluctant to stop using it. How ever It is much cheaper to buy from viovet, so I would recommend this seller to others.

Is it ok for long term use? Should it be given with food or an empty stomach?

Rocco

My dog has reacted really well to this when everything else fails. But just wondering: can this be given longterm? And should it ideally be given with food or on an empty stomach? Thanks.

  • VioVet Staff

Yes this can be given safely in the long term according to the dosing guidelines. These are pasted below:
Initially give 1 capsule per 15kg body weight per day for 3 to 4 weeks. After this time the amount can be reduced, or maitained at the initial level, depending on results.
The capsules can be opened and mixed with food or given whole. There is no reference to an empty stomach so there should be no issue giving these with or without food.

What is the dosage per meal/day?

  • VioVet Staff

Capsules can be opened and mixed with food or given whole.

Initially give 1 capsule per 15kg body weight per day for 3 to 4 weeks. After that time it might be possible to reduce the amount given, but you will need to be guided by what is happening at that time.
