The Animal Purple Poppy Fund - Raising funds for animals in need.

Blue Cross, in partnership with War Horse Memorial, are launching the Purple
Poppy Appeal. The Purple Poppy is a symbol of remembrance for animals
that served during the wars and commemorates the role they played.
Blue Cross has been helping animals since 1897 and we cared for sick and
injured horses during World War One.

By the end of the war, Blue Cross had
treated over 50,000 sick and injured horses and 18,000 dogs, funded by
donations from the British public. It had also sent veterinary supplies to over
3,500 units of the British and allied armies all over the world to treat horses.
During World War Two we supported soldiers who had to leave their animals
behind, helped soldiers bringing animals back from overseas and also helped
animals left behind when sites were cleared after bombing.

Whilst the Purple Poppy is about commemoration it is also about helping to
raise vital funds to allow Blue Cross to continue to care for animals. Your
support with this appeal will raise vital funds for local Blue Cross Centres.
