Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Beaphar Tummy Care, including answers from our team.
Hi, please could you tell me what this could be used for ? Is it a useful item to keep in a first aid kit ?
"Beaphar Tummy Care contains a prebiotic which stimulates the growth of friendly bacteria at the expense of bad bacteria, which helps to maintain a healthy intestinal flora and gut function. This is the first step in avoiding a diarrhoea problem. It also contains Vitamin C, an essential supplement for guinea-pigs. Made with real carrot juice, it is delicious as well as healthy. Reluctant drinkers will readily increase their fluid intake in most cases."
This supplement is really intended to be given on a daily basis to help prevent problems such as diarrhoea. However in the event of diarrhoea this supplement would still be helpful to firm up feaces and increase fluid intake to avoid dehydration.
Would this help my guinea pig if he was ever to get bloat
This product could in theory help prevent bloat if used on a daily basis but I am not sure it would have any effect if administered once your guinea pig already has bloat. Bloat can be a very serious (sometimes fatal) condition in guinea pigs so it would be best to consult your vet straight away if you do suspect bloat.
