Remend® Corneal Repair Gel from Bayer can be beneficial when a high concentration of hyaluronic acid (HA) may be needed or desired in dogs, cats and horses. The cross-linked HA helps provide an environment conducive to cell growth and migration during normal re-epithelialization while lubricating the eye.

Please note that a corneal ulcer can be a serious problem and treatment should always be under the supervision and advice of your veterinary surgeon.

  • Containing 0.75% Hyasent-S (modified, cross-linked HA), Remend® Corneal Repair Gel can be beneficial to veterinary practices when a high concentration of HA may be needed or desired
  • Offers convenient daily administration options (two to three times a day) for some dogs
  • Convenient administration encourages owner compliance and treatment continuity while simplifying pet care
  • Lubricates the corneal surface and helps maintain a moist environment
  • Does not contain antibiotics or steroids and is preservative-free

For use in superficial corneal ulcers in dogs and cats.

  • To avoid contamination, do not touch the tip of the container to any surface
  • Replace cap securely after using

Q & A

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Bayer Remend Corneal Repair Gel, including answers from our team.

Eye ulcer slow healing

Been using remend along with isathal and acular
For a eye ulcer slow healing , should you wait a certain amount off time between these 3 drops ?

(Also using dogs own plasma which gets applied at a different time ) .

  • VioVet Staff

I recommend discussing this with your vet. Remend Corneal Repair Gel mainly helps to keep the eye lubricated, if the eye dries then it can worsen the ulcer. It should therefore be used after any other types of drops, and ideally inbetween treating with other drops. I advise discussing the exact treatment plan with your vet though as this varies greatly depending on the frequency of the other drops that are used.

Third eyelid

MaryAbigail Andrews-Szikszai

My cats third eyelid has been visible and covering 75% of his eyes. It does not retract. Would this help?

  • VioVet Staff

The third eyelid showing can be a sign of many underlying conditions, including dehydration and viral infections. Remend Corneal Repair Gel is intended for use in helping repair ulcers or lubricating the eye. It may help in this situation but the underlying issue could also have many other causes. I recommend seeing your vet to get the issue diagnosed first.

Eyes closed

I have a shi Pei puppy who’s eyes have closed up would this gel help?

  • VioVet Staff

This gel is meant to be applied onto the eye surface itself to help the cornea, the surface of the eye, repair. If your dog's eyes are closed then this could be a sign of a serious problem and I strongly recommended contacting your vet for them to diagnose the underlying issue.

Do I need a prescription from my vet to order from you?

Sue Benthall

Please can you tell me if I need a prescription from my vet to order Bayer Remend Corneal Repair Gel 3ml from you?

Also, please can you tell me if you offer a discount for a bulk order?

Thank you very much.
Sue B.

  • VioVet Staff

These are not officially a prescription product so you do not need a prescription to buy these from us, but you should make sure that they are suitable by talking to your vet about them first. We cannot normally offer discounts unless you buy a very large amount as we tend to make all our prices as low as we can anyway.

Dry Eye

VioVet Visitor

My dog suffered with dry eye this time last year and a large ulcer developed.
He is starting to get irritated eyes again so wonder if I used this product now it would prevent an ulcer from developing? Many Thanks!

  • VioVet Staff

This is a good product to help promote a healthy state in the surface of the cornea. It is also very safe and it might well be very appropriate and beneficial to your dog. However since I am not familiar with your dog and what is happening now, I cannot say for certain if you should use it. If in doubt, it is always safest to go and see your own vet.

my cat suffered from conjunctivitis, would this work on her eye.

  • VioVet Staff

A typical case of conjunctivitis would not need or benefit from this product. It would be best to check with your vet to find out if this is appropriate to your particular cat.

Drug interraction

Debbie White

Can this be used in combination with Optimmune?
If yes, do you administer between optimmune doses? (my dog has Optimmune twice a day).

  • VioVet Staff

These products can be used together and the repair gel is probably a good idea if ulceration is present. Ideally give the two medications at different times. You should of course check with your vet if the gel would be a suitable addition to your dog's treatment.
