Barrier Red Mite X Concentrate provides effective control for Red Mite and other insect pests in poultry and animal housing. Non-toxic and safe to use around feeding areas, food stuff and egg layers. Provides a high dilution rate of 1:20 parts water so one 500ml bottle will make up 10 litres of treatment solution.
Red Mite is controlled by the sticky consistency which breaks down the wax coating of insect pests which causes dehydration and death. Similar results occur on Red Mite eggs.
Shake container thoroughly prior to diluting. Pour the whole contents of the 500ml bottle into 10L of water and ensure the mixture is stirred well.
Red Mites live in the poultry housing 95% of the time. After they have had their fill of blood from the birds, they travel upwards into the poultry house and live and breed in the crevices and roof structure of the hut.
Where infestation exists, felt roofs should be lifted and the whole area thoroughly wetted with the diluted mix. Continue treating the rest of the hut – thoroughly wetting the entire infested/affected area. Do Not Rinse, allow the product to dry naturally.
Poultry can be returned to the treated housing once the area has dried naturally.

I diluted this per the instructions into a spray bottle which I then used when cleaning chicken houses. It needs to be left for 3 hours during which the chickens must be excluded from the house. Unlike many products it is no rinse which makes it much easier to use, especially when the weather is bad and you don't want to be soaking the house again.
